If someone Buys 3 pair of shoes and returns 2 of them do we still get a commission for the pair they keep?

I frequently get partial reversals from them.

Any idea what happens if the customer returns everything and places a new order? They are great in terms of sales and high dollar transactions but it seems like 30-50% get returned every month. Compared to Wissota Trader and Masseys that almost never have any returns, Zappos return rate seems REALLY high.

If you are within the 90 day cookie and if the customer has not clicked another affiliate cookie that would overwrite yours, you will get paid for any online sales up to 90 days.

Would it be safe to assume that most returns involve a call to cutomer service, who may take a new order on that same phone call from the customer that the affiliate referred?

If return rates aren't high, who really cares, but when they are the affiliate could (is likely?) to be sending lots of customers that return the original order and then place another over the phone.

I buy my shoes at Zappos and have returned some. You can log in to your account and print a USPS or UPS label to return them directly from their site. I would say that most returns are not handled over the phone with functionality like this.

My family owned a shoe store for 53 years. People return shoes more than any other item IMHO. After working with a customer for over a hour to fit them in a shoe it is not totaly un-expected for them to return the shoes the next day because there DOG did not like the color.
With that said I love Zappos and they make me lots of $$$.
I dread the 10th (Zappos reversal day) of the month but I understand why there are so many reversals.
IMO Zappos is a great company to represent. What I would love to see is Zappos have there own forum on ABW.
Thanx Uncle Scooter and the rest, that answers my question.

I think Zappos are great too, but can you imagine a Zappos forum? 95% of posts would be about people's "nearly 70% reversal rate" (2 from 3 sales), "50% reversal rate" (1 from 2 sales), "100% reversal rate" (1 from 1 sale). It's bad enough already from people who don't understand the sector and have low sales.

We have a steady 30% reversal rate with Zappos.

Anybody got a new Zappos data feed after May 6??

Zappos is a great program and has done a lot over the years to make it very appealing to publishers. Many publishers love Zappos and make a lot of money promoting them. I am sure publishers and Zappos woud like to see returns reduced but as most of you realize, shoes just have a high return rate.

The only reason everybody beotches so much about Zappos is because Z holds up on all the reversals and drops them all at once like a bombing raid.

Other merchants have similar return rates but the reversals are less painful and less noticeable because they are done "as they go along".

I'd be more concerned about merchants with 100% reversal rate. Like, say, Paraflexmed for instance.

Interesting. When items are exchanged (ie. wrong size, exchanged for different size, same product), it's counted as a return, with no commission earned on exchanged product.

Do you know this for fact or are you pondering this? I have not seen this in many personal transactions I have conducted with them.

I seem to remember a quote on here from Todd (maybe someone else) where he said the replacement did earn commish. Many people are wise to the system however and "buy" say 4 pairs to start - 2 styles in 2 sizes - and only keep the one pair they want, returning the rest. Click on the details of the larger value returns, you'll see many partial returns amongst them.
