IOW, wineries can ship to all states? Do you know if this includes the distributers as well?

They can Ship but I bet a lot of people will be hessitant. States will force those who buy wine online to be taxed like those who buy ciggs online.

read it all carefully. the states are prohibited from discriminating. this also means that a state can block all direct wine sales within the state.

    Cool
    further:

    1. it is a fact that some NYS wineries have been shipping out-of-state for months.

    2. hopefully this will cut down the payola going on between the distributors and our saintly legislators.

    Talking Free the Grapes!
this is part of an editorial on the Free the Grapes site, celebrating the decision:

Raise a glass at dinner tonight and toast the wisdom of the Supreme Courts ruling, asked Jeremy Benson, executive director of Free the Grapes! Were asking everyone who loves wine to participateconsumers, winemakers, retailers, restaurateurs, brokers and even wholesalers. There are no losers today. Todays historic ruling will benefit each tier of the wine industry, he added.

Despite the ruling, the grapes are not immediately free. The next step is for affected states to pass the existing model direct shipping bill, which is operating successfully in a number of states and was recommended for adoption by the National Conference of State Legislatures Task Force on the Wine Industry, in 1997.

    That's awesome news!

I know some winery owners who are going to be very excited by this, and those of us with wine sites may start to see an increase in online marketing budgets from our favorite advertisers, leading to a bit more revenue in our pockets all around.

Let the Liberal ninnies in NY suck grapes from between their toes. Same goes for that sin tax Queen Granholm in Michigan, who can't even get the majority of parents here to even think education is important for their kids. Michigan the New Mississippi heading towards a third world status choking on democraps and liberals.

I toast the Surpeme Court decision.

Still can't ship to Utah (the state owns all the package stores and they want every to squeeze out every penny from us).

time for a dynamic page maker. the biggest problem with presenting wines is that each label or vintage goes out of stock too fast.

    I said that.

that won't last long. in that case NY will have to block shipments from the wineries to those of us within the state, also.

no, our fair State wants all the tax dollars they can get while appearing to promote job opportunities. Incidentally, there are other undercurrents going on here also, like wine in grocery stores and potato chips in liquor stores. don't have either here yet.
