Getting impressions for links I removed!?
I switched my Clipart links over to a Shareasale merchant. Yet, I am still tracking impressions and even one little sale through CJ for Clipart (now called Jupiter Media). How can this be?

Possibly through an old cached copy of your site through a search engine...? I had this happen too, with an item that I had removed a few months ago. Then suddenly I sold one! Not 100% sure this is how, but it would be my guess....

Old pages live in cached copies very long, sometimes more a year

Are you sure you removed all of the 1x1 tracking pixels? As for the sale, it could be from a cookie left on someone's computer.

Another thought. Has anyone else noticed the number of old listings that had long ago disappeared from the search engines that are now reappearing? Anyone know why this is happening?

If you use Dreamweaver and delete the link by highlighting it and hitting the delete key while in Design view it can leave the impression tracking link behind.

In Dreamweaver, CJ links need to be deleted in Source view.

Oh my gosh! You have got to be kidding me? But if I can't see the old links, how does anyone else see them? How do they get clicked on????

the 1 x 1 tracking pixel is a graphic that loads whenever someone visits the page - to track impressions of text links. like Dreamweaver, in FrontPage, it's also easy to miss the pixel when you edit / delete an existing linking in the WYSIWYG view...

learn to highlight the empty space after the exisitng text link to see the blinking little 1x1 pixel... or learn to go to the source view (instead of WYSIWYG view)...
