I have heard people mention this term, what does it mean?

It's more or less word of mouth traffic. This is the best kind in my opinion and can only be achieved by websites that truely offer something of value. On the flip side, there's earch engine traffic which is leaning more and more on organic links. These are links that people give to you without any reciprocation. Before, search engine traffic could be had without organic links. You could submit your site to lots of online directories and link farms and watch your traffic soar as the search engines figure you've got some good link popularity. Now they more or less ignore this type of link and give you better standings for organic links.

I have always taken the term Organic to mean that the SE positioning and links are developed naturally rather than being paid links.

I totally agree with Scott on this. Whatever you want to call it, word of mouth is by far the best kind of traffic to have.
