    More wierdness
O.K. I think I need to stop looking at my log files.

I have a website which carries LapTopforLess and X10 products on it + others. I'm looking through my log files for this site and notice hits from people requesting images. Theres about 10 for today. All from different countries, Japan, France, Australia, USA and a few others which I couldn't understand the country extension.

Why would any one be looking for ac adapter images or images of x10 cameras?
They all seem to have different ip addresses and useragents.

Anyone else have lots of requests for electronic gadgetry images or is it just me?

Maybe there are search engines looking for images like Google images does?

And THIS is always a good source of traffic! We get these hits all the time... Not sure they ever convert, but at least it's good publicity.

    Just a wild guess....

Since x10 has so many good looking sexy ads, maybe all those people are just looking at those images only for the informative text on those ads.

It could be other websites hotlinking to it or people sending via email without downloading. Check the Referrer for each request to see where it's being referenced from. If there is no reference then it is not the search engine image features, it is most likely people pulling them up in their email. If it is using up a considerable amount of bandwidth you may want to experiment by turning off hotlinking in your site control panel.

I forgot to mention the refferer is images.google.fr, images.google.jp etc....

Its all from images.google but the wierd thing is that it started today for the most part I did get the odd image request here and there before.

    They are definitely different IP's...strange...

Hope its o.k to post these examples:

    http://images.google.fr/imgres?imgur...******.com/etc....
    IP: 82.124.112.131, Host: AVelizy-151-1-18-131.w82-124.abo.wanadoo.fr
    With: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr-FR; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4

    http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...w.****.com/etc......
    IP: 219.238.148.196, Host: 219.238.148.196
    With: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1)

    BurgerBoy,

Pay Back is an Ocean, so be ready for my check soon.

    Heather,

My banners are from January 2004.

Yes I know, I need to do some serious x10 update on my pages ASAP, probably by next Monday I will have my all x10 links in order.

And I will not post my links here for the same reason that 95% of the ABW members don't post their sites here.

I just saw your Affiliate Contest! thread and I see that you mentioned two Winners by their title name, while it's good to know who won, I know that many affiliates around here (me included) don't like to have their websites mentioned on ABW for some good reasons.

BTW, I thought that you still have my site info since January, 2004 when I reply to the last email I got from Jon.

    Sal.

"I know that many affiliates around here (me included) don't like to have their websites mentioned on ABW for some good reasons."

I am curious to know what the reasons are? You should be proud of your work and happy to send traffic to your websites. PM me if you would feel more comfortable.

    We are!

Other affiliates = the competition. That kind of traffic we don't need!
