    Unhappy Link Hijacking?
Some time ago I tried accessing metareward.com but I received an error page. Weeks later I found I couldn't click through on some of my affiliate links to Sunspot and NCS offers. I would get 'The page cannot be displayed' when using IE and 'the connection was refused when attempting to contact...' when using Netscape or Firefox. In all cases my clicks did register on my reports.
When I tried another PC on my network, all was well. I scanned my PC with Trend Micro, AdAware, Spybot and Norton Internet Security 2005, all to no avail.
I even went to another affiliate's website that was selling the same product as mine and I received the error page using their link.
This is really screwing me up when I try to build new links on my sites, although I don't believe I am losing any sales. Does anyone have any idea what to do next?

Check your host file. One of the spyware removal apps could be blocking it via the host file.

Thank you all for your responses. The host file was indeed the problem. I simply removed the entry for metareward and I was able to access that site again using any browser. I'll go through and remove any sites from the host file that I need to access.
    Thanks very much Kellie!

No problem. The list in the host file may very well be coming from one of the spyware removal applications you have if you run any of the protection features. So the problem might come back. If so, just go through your removal applications one by one to see.
