    Lightbulb A thought on affialation.
I read all these messages here and think.....why do I not have any success?

Everyone seems to be doing well, or almost so anyway. I check my pages and even find myself clicking throu all the links just to make sure they really are working....

Alas my mind is sinking into the reality that I am paying more for domain registration and hosting than I am making.
Oh, look!!! $2.34 in the last year. LOL Actually I think I ordered that.
Well I do have fun, at least I think I do.

So I am wondering, does anyone else feel like they are not getting anywhere?

How much traffic do you get per day? That's usually the problem.

You should have traffic stats that come with the hosting, or you can buy some or there are some freebie trackers out there.

A lot of the common hosts allow you to check stats by logging in at http://www.whateveryourdomainis. com/cpanel or /stats ........

Took me neartly 6 months to get my first sale.... I get tons every day now, hang in there...
Following everyone else is a GREAT way to become average.

You have to look at a few things.
    - your traffic
    where's it coming from, etc.
    - your site
is it set up to sell?
    - who you're promoting
do they convert to begin with?

Hang around here and read the posts, you'll learn a lot. I've had my page up with links for 3 years. I tried to do it the best I knew how. The only information I had was from a man on the phone 3 years ago who gave me links to a couple of sites, told me to check them out and tweak my pages, then the money will start rolling in. Gullible me believed him! Well, the biggest check I've received was $68.00. I had a few in the $30-$40 range, and one for $13.00. I was ready to pull my links, close my accounts and forget it all. (at least it paid for my domain and hosting)

Then one day not long ago I stumbled across ABW. I've been reading posts, discovering a lot of important things that I didn't know. I have tons more to learn and Iím confident that Iíll learn most of it right here on this site.

The past 3 years have taught me how to build a web page, but not how to be an affiliate. For me affiliate training started right here at ABW a couple of weeks ago.

Iíve had my feelings hurt by merchants who dropped me because I didnít generate $$$ for them. (Was it costing them anything for their links to set on my page while I learn?) I got past it. I discovered that there are merchants out there who actually want to help us learn.
They will let us park their banners and text for as long as it takes for us to learn how to do it right and start raking in the bucks for them and for us.

Hereís what Iíve figured out so far from reading posts. Someone jump all over this if Iím wrong.

    1. Build a great site. The jury is still out on whether it should be content or web mall so go with what feels right or buy another domain and do one of each to test the waters.
    2. Promote the site to get incoming traffic
    3. Be sure your links are right for your site.
    4. Keep the site fresh. Repeat visitors mean repeat sales.
    5. Keep learning. Even the big timers learn new stuff as the web grows and changes.

I hope this has helped a little, if nothing else, let you know that it is possible and you can do it.

Kraftseye, what is your site about and who is your target audience?

    Examples:
    work-at-home-momes
    teens
    musicians
    music buffs
    ski fanatics
    blood hound lovers

    the list is endless

once you can answer that question, look for affiliate links that compliment that site and gives value to your target audience.

don't pur dog collar banners on a ski fanatic page.

Although it may sound pretty basic, that's one of hte very first problems I see with new affiliates: no target and no complimentary offers.

    good luck!
