    Distributed Sender Blackhole List
Just sent an email to a merchant and it was returned because I'm on the DSBL list!!

Reason: You are listed by DSBL-ALL - see

    http://dsbl.org/main

Easy question: how do I find out my IP address?

(And no, I've never sent out any spam)

Your own local IP? Easy: http://www.whatismyip.com/ it'll show up on the screen there in big type.

To find out your *site's* IP, you can use http://visualroute.visualware.com/ and just type in your site name and it'll tracert it and come up with the IP at the same time--but you have to register and give 'em a real email in order to sign up (they send a PIN to it that confirms your registration).

Or just open your command prompt (short cut is click start then click run and type in CMD and hit enter)

    and then type:

ping www.domainname.com and it will show the IP (as long as you arent inside the same network as your domain, otherwise it'll show the internal IP)

Won't whois.sc give you the ip address?

You can go there and type in the domain name from where your email is generated from and it will give you the ip. You don't have to register for whois.sc.

Or are you looking for the ip of the computer your working from...

Sorry you ended up on the list. You can use dns stuff (http://dnsstuff.com/) to find out your site's IP, your email reverse DNS info and anything else about your site.

It's a great resource, so don't forget to bookmark it. ;-)

All good suggestions already, but another possibility is that someone else on your IP address (on a shared server or at your isp) sent out spam, or maybe didn't even send out spam, but was reported to have done so.

My email addresses get reported for spam when the spoofers get a hold of them and send out spam that didn't originate from my domains at all.

From their web site on how your ISP gets on their list:

The DSBL lists contain the IP addresses of servers which have relayed special test messages to listme@listme.dsbl.org; this can happen if the server is an open relay, an open proxy or has another vulnerability that allows anybody to deliver email to anywhere, through that server.
Probably time for a talk with your hosting company.

Great resource, and one I've had bookmarked for years!

You can enter your mail server IP address in the "Spam database lookup" field there to check to see if you are blacklisted at any of about 150 blacklists.

Looked up EcomCity and some clients for being blackisted. Not a single blackmark. Now if only I could stop the e-mail spammers from targeting me as some ABW creeps keep entering me into those friggin e-mail spam lists with bots.

dang - sorry I missed all these replies! Thanks all!

The domain (website) doesn't seem to be the problem - I contacted the webhosting company and they confirmed it's not blocked.

Near as I can tell... my emails go thru cox.net - maybe it's them

And I HAVE to point this out: the email address listed at DSBL to have yourself removed from the list is...

"Returned mail - no such email address"
