not in the game for a while
Well it looks like Im out of the game for a while.

My employer ended their affiliate marketting campaign quite short, and cut their losses. the RIO just was not there.

The sad part is that it COULD have been there if I had full control. I was told to spend money on all these multiple networks, and then not spend any on advertisment or recruitment (Until the end of this month in preperation for football season, but too late now). And they have a very speciffic service that they sell, making it harder to see an early RIO.

    Im just a little bitter.

Anyone need an Affiliate Manager? :P

Steven sorry to hear that. But good luck to you and sometimes bad things happen for good reasons down the road.

The presence of those two sentences say that you should be in business for yourself, not having to yessir whatever the management comes up with.

    Consider:
    1) You could have done better than the empl*yer.
    2) You're p*ssed at their insistence at doing things in a munged-up way.

    Ideas
    Hi Steve,
Sorry to hear you lost that position, but maybe you can turn it into something positive. Take the time to think about what you really like to do - maybe it's nothing to do with AM after all. Maybe some hobby or passion you have, then focus on a niche in that area and set up an affiliate site using what you know from the previous position i.e. what those 20% of the successful affiliates were doing to make their $.

Just off the top of my head other ideas related to affiliate marketing are:
    - go talk to the competition and offer you services
    - offer the local e-business associations to give a free (yes, I said free) seminar on what affiliate marketing is .. it may lead to one or two contracts with some companies in Van.

Stay in the game one way or another.

    Cheers,
    Peter
