    eBay Active Registration
    Hello,

I've always thought that an eBay Active Reg is a reg followed by a bid or bin within 30 days.

I had a reg and bid yesterday without an accompanying active reg, inquired this morning through AAQ and client services responded with:

"An active registration would be if the person not only bid on something but actually won the bid."

Is this consistent with y'all understanding, that a bid must be a winning bid to convert a reg to a active reg? My bad if I've been incorrectly understanding this.

    Regards,
    Tuan

My understanding is it was always a registration with a bid or bin. But i'm sure there are affiliates out there abusing that and just signing up with different email addys and then bidding on something they know they're not going to win just to get that $20. So I don't know if there is a way to know which is an affiliate abusing the system or a real registration that bidded and just lost.

    TLE,

The registration and bid could come from two users from your site. There is no way to tell if they were from the same user according to CJ's stats. I have few registrations that didn't become active last month. Couldn't figure out why.

Thanks for bringing that up. I have my own tracking system and the reg and bid were from the same visitor, by IP and visit.

I think our client service person was wrong. A registration becomes active when either a bid or buy-it-now occurs. It is not required that the auction was won. If this is not the case, I will post an update.

Actually, that's not true. If you download the reports and open them in Excel, you can tell. Just look at the Order_ID column. There are usually two numbers separated by a semi-colon. The first number identifies the user, and the second number identifies the item they bid/bin on.The registration doesn't return an eBay item number, but the bid and active registration do. Here is an example.:

    Code:
    1-Jul-2005 12:30 PDT Registration 214999999;0
    1-Jul-2005 12:35 PDT Active Registration 214999999;7339999999
    1-Jul-2005 12:35 PDT Bid 214999999;7339999999
If you compile the reports over time, you can even see trends where people come back to your site and bid again. Evidently, each ebay user-name converts to a unique number for CJ purposes.
