Phishing attempts claiming to be Linkshare
If you get an email like this:
    ---
    Dear Linkshare Member,

We have temporarily suspended your email account XXXXXXXXX.

This might be due to either of the following reasons:

    1. A recent change in your personal information (i.e. change of address).
    2. Submiting invalid information during the initial sign up process.
    3. An innability to accurately verify your selected option of subscription due to an internal error within our
    processors.
See the details to reactivate your Linkshare account.

    Sincerely,The Linkshare Support Team
    ---

This email is NOT from Linkshare and may contain a virus.
Do not open the attachment, and if you are able to, you can PM me with the complete message headers.

We will be blocking these shortly but in the meantime, use common sense as you would with fake messages from your bank, credit union or any other site.

    Making this sticky post.

Hope LS is also able to track down who is behind this.

Thanks Kellie, we're looking into it. There are controls in place already so I suspect they only went as far as reaching Linkshare internal addresses.

Wow! Athena must be working well if the scammers are now having to resort to phishing schemes in order to get accounts!

I haven't received one yet, but I'll be on the lookout for them.

Phishing attempts afflict everyone, so you should always be aware. I believe our site policies clearly spell out how we communicate with users, but anyway, if you get an email filled with typos, odds are good it's not from us

The offending party has been identified and we have filed a complaint with his/her ISP.
I do believe that the only recipients of the spam/phish were internal Linkshare addresses, as we do not allow external users to send mail via our system, but I thought it was prudent to warn you anyway.

So this bright light bulb sent a phishing linkshare email to linkshare addresses?? Since you've id'ed them, I nominate them for one of those most stupid criminal awards.

I haven't received any, but it will be interesting if I do - as my email address for LS is only used at LS. Third-Parties* scare me, another potential leak of personal information.
