I think what Heyder wants to say is PR4 isn't a "mad rank", it's actually a quite low rank IMO. In my experience it isn't hard to get a PR5, you just need a few good inbound links.

You should focus more on the on-site optimization, especially navigation. Yes, getting relevant links to your site is also an important part. I know we all like to brag "hey I've got a new PR 7" but the bottom line is PR itself doesn't help you sell stuff.

Not unless you are selling links anyway!

One could argue that a higher PR *could* result in more traffic which would account for more sales... although saying a higher PR means more traffic or a higher search rank is just going to start an huge debate we have all seen here many times.

I doubt you would do much money selling links on a PR4 site

And no, I don't even want to start a debate about PR/traffic/sales...

A PR6 site of mine doesn't get loads and loads of traffic, however it passed 4 brand new sites (just put up this week) a PR4 already.

So it may not mean much, but it helps get new sites spidered. It is just one piece of a very complicated puzzle.

I actually got a pr on a site that was being penalized by my own stupid mistake. It was nice of the big G to show me some love.
