How's This For A Merchant Promotion
    From the Playboy Store

"Look for the Mansion Party contest in next month's newsletter. This will be your opportunity to win two tickets to the Playboy New Year's Party. The Affiliate with the highest sales from August 1, 2005 until October 31, 2005 will receive two tickets to the Playboy New Year's Eve Mansion party."

Only brilliant if the top affiliate is a guy (or maybe a lesbian woman)!

Because no straight woman I can think of would be excited about that idea. After all, the guys the TV has showed as being at prior Playboy parties are nothing to write home about.

Yes, given that it is a guy... although I think it is safe to say that the *majority* of affiliate marketers are males (not to say their isn't a sufficient amount of females).

The draw back to this could be pissing off the female affiliates to this program and losing them as affiliates... but maybe the increase in conversions from male affiliates will be greater than the loss suffered... who knows.

The prize is an extension of their brand. If this pisses you off, what are you promoting playboy for iin the first place? The articles?

So I guess that you will spend a lot of extra money on PPC on those three months.

Yeah, this went out to their affiliates, so the ones receiving it aren't going to be mad at all since this is a private program and the ones in the program are people who want to be in. I actually first noticed Playboy links on Mike's site. So maybe Mike and the bird can win and go party with Hef

I wonder how much a person could get for those tickets on ebay? If I knew I could sell them I would be trying to win that contest!

It doesn't piss me off, it's just that I know that a lot of people who promote that type of stuff are female, and do it because Playboy's money is as good as anyone's. That doesn't mean they'd want to go and get pawed!

BTW I don't promote Playboy...I figured it'd draw lots of people who just want to look. I just can't help but think what a turnOFF a trip there would be...YUCK! Yuck especially @ Heffner himself, eewwww

    Mitts off, mister!

    There you go Lectrickitty,

    That's a good marketing idea!

Only problem now, is that maybe someone else beat you it, because you made that idea public.

Just reading the Playboy email, they say contest ends tomorrow night. Guess who's in first and going to win it:

They've always been pretty mainstream, they started off good with having Marilyn Monroe as the centerfold for the first issue. Not a bad way to start off a magazine.
