    Talking Midnight munchies
Okay, so it's midnight and everyone in your house is fast asleep. It's five hours or so since you ate dinner and your tummy is rumbling.

My fave midnight snack is a piece of French bread with margarine and jam. If there's cake I might have a slice of that. Sometimes I just can't keep my mitts off those extreme garlic stuffed Greek olives.

When you wander off to the kitchen in pursuit of a midnight snack, what do you grab?

A glass of milk usually does it for me, yum! But whatever I can find will usually suffice.

Hmmm ... I pretty much do the opposite. Take out the treadmill and a nice 30min jog cures the munchies everytime.

I wish! Unfortunately there's the best pizza shop here that is open till 5am, and lets just say they know me by first name, address and order type. I'm still working on bartering an online interface/payment system for a year's supply.

MMM that and any other kind of junk food sounds so GOOD!!

But I've been trying to reverse the weight gain webmastering has given me. So, lately I've been sticking to lower-fat popcorn (less fat but still has some flavor left, unlike the way-less-fat kind), which seems to be the only thing that doesn't put weight on (and isn't yucky vegetables). But right now I can practically taste some fully-fatted PRINGLE'S...and if I had any in the house I would devour them right now!

"Unfortunately there's the best pizza shop here that is open till 5am"

That would be the end of me.

When i still had a job, i would work late trying to figure out how this stuff works and would get some Steak & Shake burgers/fries/coke at 2 or 3 in the morning or Dunkin Donuts and then try to get a few hours sleep before i had to go to work.

No more snacking for me now. Went from 185 - 220 pds my first year doing this and am back down to 190, so i'm being a good boy now

But you could finally put that expensive pizza cutter to good use.

Dark chocolates. Lots of those. Crisps are next. If all else fails, a slice of bread with as much chocolate spread or sweet meat as it can hold. Cans of soda.

And then a very long walk the next day.. like 2 hours of brisk walking in a desperate attempt to get rid of it.

A slice of multigrain bread with some low fat spread and a few slices of brie. I could just die for that!

Microwave or an English muffin with Smucker's Grape Jelly(do NOT substitute with another brand), depending on if I have a sweet or salt craving.

I usually go for a bowl of cereal. I hardly ever eat cereal for breakfast but for some reason I crave it at night.

I'm in a weird phase right now. When I feel the need to snack nothing sounds appealing ... so I just give up. It's too bad.... I need to make use of this young metabolism while I got it.

    A few of my favorites...

    English Muffin with Peanut Butter

Thin sliced pickled bologna, colby cheese & crackers

Sweet & Salty Mix (raisins, sunflower seeds, m&ms, etc)

    Grilled Peanut Butter sandwich

Maple & Brown Sugar oatmeal with hot buttered toast

All depends on my mood and if I feel like cooking.

Oatmeal Cookies from Roland Mesnier's book, Dessert University. They're incredible. I stayed up last night to make a batch. Roland Mesnier was the White House pastry chef for about 25 years.

OMG as I was reading this I ran and got a snack bag of Doritos(we recieved about 20 assorted frito lay snackbags from a block party) and hid in the bathroom so my little ones wouldn't see and gobbled them down!!!LOL...they were good .

We usually don't have things like that in the house. Tortilla chips and guacamole (my huband makes the beeessstt) or toast w/jam. Sometimes we bake cookies...

Sitting in front of this computer has added a few pounds this year

Suzi, there are two diets I can highly recommend.

The first is the divorce diet. Guaranteed to drop ten pounds from the first meeting with the lawyer to the divorce decree.

The second is the puppy diet. Guaranteed to drop six pounds from the day the puppy arrives to the point where he only requires five walks a day.

Nestlé’s Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels rule! I like to delude myself that I'm buying them to make cookies for the kids. Somehow, I never have enough when its time to make the cookies.

If it's greasy and bad for me, I want it. So I try to always have homemade salsa handy - makes the tortilla chips seem less junky.

That is hilarious and I can totally relate! I hid the other day eating brownies because I didn't want share with my kids....what a horrible mom I am. hehe

So no one mentioned ice cream....shame on you.

Ben & Jerry's or Starbucks, partially melted.

Second would be the chocolate chips. Mine too, never quite turn into cookies and ooohh Otis Spunkmeier frozen cookie dough (that NEVER) makes it to the oven.
Gosh I'm drooling alover the keyboard. My husband is going to think that I have been looking at porn.

I guess I'm the odd ball of the group. I usually keep string cheese and fruit. I grab a plum, a peach, a few grapes, or a little pkg of string cheese.

I couldn't fit out the door if I ate all the Ben & Jerry's I'd like to... keeping that stuff around often enough to call it a "snack" would probably literally be the death of me
