    3 Day Headache
    A few days back I once again tried Webmerge and actually figured a couple things out. 3 days later I'm pretty much stalled out big time. I purchased WM and I'm pretty excited about it.

    Right now I'm using some of SAS's datafeeds to play around with it. Is it the feeds or me? I'm getting product pages to spit out pretty good and the template I have doesn't look half bad. As for the index, thats another story. I was hoping to make an index page with the category field as the menu. If I use the category it lists the same one until it reaches another category. The same with subcategories. Is there WM for Dummies around some where? I have read and read for the last few days and have tried tons of things, some with success and lots with none.

    Are there any templates around to look at and experiment with to try to figure things out, to see what does what? Right now I can get a 1 product page but is it possible to put like 5 products on a page and then 5 more on the next pages? My guess is yes.

    Also what would be a good clean feed to play around with. For some reason when I try to edit and delete fields in the SAS datafeeds with Excel it won't allow me to. Thanks All! Any help or better yet template examples are strongly appreciated.

    Rich, great product once I figure it out

    Scooter, thanks for the link. Thats been the site that has gotten me as far as I am so far. The templates helped a lot to change things around and see what it does. I guess I didn't read enough becuase I just found that WM-IndexLabel is only for index pages, lol.

    Still the biggest proble I am having with the index page is having the catagory listed only once instead of everytime for each data line Thanks again Scooter.

    I use includes to insert different indexes. Make it on a page with a special template, then insert it anywhere on the site. So many options with WM.

    Thanks for the help Scooter, it's appreciated I did end up doing a page include with an index broken down with 10 products on a page which then point to the individual product. I suppose for me that's quite an acomplishment .. It still seems that there must be a way to get WM to only post the each categorie once instead of posting the same category everytime for each product. In other words here is what I get now on the index page:

    EX;

    rings
    rings
    rings
    rings
    rings
    rings
    bracelets
    rings
    rings
    necklaces
    rings
    rings

    What I am looking for obviously is the category to be listed just once, EX;

    Rings
    Bracelets
    Necklaces
    Earrings

    The above are just examples. I haven't tried the jewelry feeds yet. Thanks again

    Make sure you use the index label tag, then be sure to order the datafeed by the field you are using for the index page. I usually open the feed in csvdb and sort the category field, This always seems to solve my problem of having the same item listed more than once

    This is how it's done in straight HTML:

    <a href="http://somevendor/product.html"><img src="image.gif"></a>

    WebMerge merely replaces portions of your page with field data, so you could use:

    <a href="[WM-Field: MyURLField raw nolink]"><img src="image.gif"></a>

    Thanks for the help Richard. I'm using WM 2.3 . I think you have 2.4 out now. I should probably update the version. Here is what ended up working for me

    <a href="[WM-Field: Link]">[WM-ImagePath: Thumbnail]</a>

    After looking at the code you laid out I saw I was missing the "quotes". Thanks for the help. I noticed if I added the "raw" in the code the link would still work although the raw was showing in the url code before clicking on it. I have a lot to learn but no doubt you added the right button when the pages are through generating without any errors. COOL!!!
