hosting company says goldencan is a no-no on their server
I just got an email from my hosting company telling me I can't use goldencan because they don't allow what they call "Remote Database Connections" on the server. I'm taking down the links right now, gotta protect my account so they don't lock me out.

I thought no remote database connections meant you can't open up your own mySQL to the public. At least that's how it's been with my hosts in the past. The way I understand it, GoldenCan works just like Google AdSense. There should be no reason for you to take it down. You might want to consider a new host.

Did you ask them or did they notice the activity on their own? Like Scott said, it is java, not a remote database connection.

Sent them a email explaining the java, not a remote database, and included a link to this post so they can read it and hopefully change their opinion of it. Thanks for the info. Maybe it's not what they thought it was and we can get the misunderstanding cleared up real quick. (keeping my fingers crossed)

Your host definitely has this wrong. If they don't realize it soon, find a new host asap.

GoldenCan server load on your hosting account is almost ZERO. All content is served from GC's servers.
