August 5th, 2005, 09:32 AM #1MSN To Beta Pay-Per-Click PlatformMSN WILL BE LAUNCHING A test version of its paid search product, "MSN Keywords," in October, in which it will invite 500 marketers to participate in the pilot program, a spokeswoman for the portal said Thursday.
MSN initially announced it was developing paid search in March this year, and currently is testing its platform in France and Singapore. With the launch of MSN Keywords, MSN will face off against market leaders Google and Yahoo!, as well as second-tier search engines like Ask Jeeves, in the struggle for search ad dollars. Yahoo! currently powers sponsored search listings on MSN, but its contract expires next June.Continued Success,

October 18th is the rumored start date, and the MSN Keywords pilot will be for US-only.

Will be very interesting to see how MSN does with their new PPC platform. I've got a strong feeling that MSN will end up winning the SE war...I know most people don't think I'm right on this, but Microsoft is a company that you underestimate at your peril. They've got the resources, and there's definitely a strong will from the MSN camp to take this market at all costs...
Will be very interesting to see how this plays out over the next couple of years.
