    make.pl stops running
    Hi

I've successfully installed instumentpro on a site and am now trying to install the Bettymills

Make.pl runs fine but stops in different places on the second pass eg “processing: 3900/37337 (10%) (9m 17s left)”.

Can anyone help me solve this problem as it is driving me nuts.

I’m using the same host as for my instrument pro script and typing http://www.mydomain.com/cgi-bin/dyse/bettymills/make.pl into my browser to run make.pl as I don’t have shell access.

    Thanks for your help.

    Richard

You are probably hitting an execution limit as I did...since a merchant with a smaller database ran ok. Contact your host and ask them to check you error logs...or ask what the execution time limit is for Perl...can take about 30 minutes for betty mills. Then ask them to increase your limit...chances are they won't, but may as well ask. If it can't be resolved by your host then you need to run make.pl for bettymills on your PC and upload the db. See the previous thread about perl execution limits. I also had this happen with HON which apparently just increased the size of its feed.

If you install ActivePerl on your Windows PC, you can then run DySE::BettyMills make.pl locally. Unpack DySE::BettyMills .zip file onto your hard drive and run make.pl from there. Then upload the created data/*.db files to your server (e.g.: /cgi-bin/dyse/MERCHANT/data/*.db).
further instructions are given at the link above.

...or it could be something else.

If your host says the execution limit is sufficient...(still bet that is it) Something in your browser could be stopping it.

You can try running make.pl as a cronjob or via telnet if it looks like it's being interupted from your end. I'd check the time limit first though. Remote updating is nice, but running it locally is not that bad.

Thanks for the info jazzylee77. I think I'll try and run the script locally.

I already have Active perl installed.

How do I use it to manually run the make.pl script?

    Richard

Thanks for you help and quick response so far.

See: Run make.pl on your Windows PC with ActivePerl

This is to be used as a last resort. It is not intended to be the "standard" way of running DySE make.pl scripts. But it does work fine; it just has the added step of needing you to upload the created *.db database files.
