Talking Extra, Extra Read All About It. OptInRealBig NAILED by M$!
It's all over the news right now but one source http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/...Spam%20Lawsuit

OptInRealBig to pay M$ $7M in Spam lawsuit.

Oh but they never spammed right??? Why sooooo many have come here and posted such. Guess Scott's recent 'conversion' to a non-spammer was too little too late.

For those that don't know...OptInRealBig is also CPAEmpire...Missy Ward....partner with Shawn Collins for Affiliate Summit.

But Shawn is never a part of anything shady or unethical.....right? Isn't he a perpetual innocent bystander?

And OptInRealBig never spammed me. I opted in for those 1700 emails in less than 3 days time.

Woohoo! Bad boys, bad boys...whatcha gonna do NOW?

Lemme tell you all what happened when I decided to see if I could opt out of OptInRealBig. They did indeed seem to remove my domain addies from their list, however I immediately started receiving even more spam, but from a different set of players. I believe that they did remove my addies from their list, but then promptly sold it to another spamhaus, possibly one of their own.

I'm having evil thoughts. Probably should just shut up now.

Rhea, I've experienced similiar after I started this thread.

My spam to that domain has tripled since. After spam filters, I'm now getting 15k+/day to the one domain. It's pretty obvious that the bulk is coming from the same source. A coincidence? Possible, but I'm not a firm believer in coincidences. Would spammers ever retailate? Never of course...curious how my State allows for retailation protection in our spam law.

I have to admit I fail to see the value in playing with "opt in" spammers. What return could someone actually expect from including themselves in a program that sends that many emails to a single address?

It's not their fault, this is an outrageous injustice

Wow...what an authoriative article that IS. I feel for the unsuspecting reader of that article who didn't realize one of the authors works for one of the companies named in the suits by M$ and Spitzer. All together now...can we say "AGENDA"?

What a convoluted bit of writing that article was. I see a plug for downsizing the AM Industry got worked in there also. Under the guise of scare tactics at that. All because OptInRealBig got their backsides called to task.

However, those 1700 emails I got from OptInRealBig didn't come from an affiliate.

Kellie, what exactly is Missy's relationship with OIRB and its associated entities? Not disclosing that relationship in that article is unprofessional and unconscionable. Further, what is Shawn's stake in this?

The spam coming out of OIRB wasn't isolated or intermittent. It shows a pattern of relentless spamming over a long period of time. Any AM should have, could have and would have stopped it if they'd been so inclined.

    Getting angry again.

Don't worry everyone, I'm sure the folks from CPA Empire, et al will be here shortly to give us the relevant details. I mean, you don't think they'd avoid ABW after a story like this ... would you?

In a manner of speaking they are here, Philly. They've sent their favorite spy.

    Look up.

CPAEmpire is owned by OIRB. In fact, Scott didn't even bother settting up CPAEmpire as a separate corporate entity. Go to the privacy policy, terms of use, or TOS for advertisers/publishers on CPAEmpire and you will see the legalese is for OIRB not CPAEmpire. In fact, when Scott filed the bankruptcy stuff because of these suits, CPAEmpire was listed in those proceedings because it isn't a separate corporate entity.

Missy is Director of Marketing for CPAEmpire.

Missy and Shawn are partners for AffiliateSummit. And as would be expected, CPAEmpire sponosrs the Summit heavily and Shawn promotes CPAEmpire.

Hehe, this is excellent news. Can't wait to see the new round of apologist letters from the scum who always seem to defend this. Can't wait to see how shawn spins this into being bad for all affiliates...

    OptIn...Missy Ward...Shawn Collins...hmmm...

I have to second the comment above about Shawn, somehow he always seems to be involved, but it's always without his knowledge. Poor guy.

Now now everyone. We all know that Shawn and Missy are really nice people who just got caught in the crossfire. Neither of them have ever done anything to deserve all of the bad press they are getting.
    Look....there goes another flying donkey!!!
I don't see our favorite spy here, but I do see one of his favorite merchants who has acted as his mouthpiece in the past. Care to comment??? Helloooooooooo? Anyone home?????

Will you guys please stop calling Shawn Collins names.
He is a very nice guy who unfortunately and through no fault of his own just happens to get mixed up with the wrong type.

PS. Shawn that must be worth another T-Shirt eh?
