Thumbs down Dell Home with LinkShare did NOT track
A friend used my Dell Home link to purchase a laptop which was never reported. I've contacted Dell and hope they can remedy this situation. I'll post an update when I hear from them.

I went through the same thing with them over a year ago.

They never credited me for the missing money they owed me, as a matter of fact they pretty much ignored the whole thing.

    Good Luck.

It's not a whole lot of money, but the principle of the matter is what's important. They need to honor their program terms.

    Exactly!

Makes me wonder how many orders I truly send their way.

There is no BHO or cookie stuffer who isn't a Dell affiliate. Chances are every sale has multiple cookies attached (several house account [PPCSE, TV Ads], a few BHO's, and the real affiliate) and they're too lazy to sort it out. It's a cookie landmine your shopper has to navigate.

I just want Dell to respond to this issue. If they aren't even going to reply to me, why should I bother promoting them? Doesn't sound like they run a ship-shape affiliate program to me.

The only reason to have Dell on a site is because everyone expects them to be there. I've had several situations and atleast two systems that did not track and in either situation I recieved no reply. The Dell programs are a joke, use the search function, I doubt you'll find anyone whose ever been happy with them.

Argh! How can companies get away with this. It's obvious they don't care about their reputation in the affiliate circles and I hope to see it bite them later on.

They pay others hired guns to manage the program. All sleazebags cookie tricksters and e-mail spammers are allowed, while all diversion tactics are employed from day one.

Dell payout % is pathetic, plus their coupons have ridiculous time periods and constraints. Unless my website is totally devoted to pc's, not worth the time..

So I got a response from Linkshare to submit a transaction inquiry. I've submitted one and expect it to be lost in oblivion. I'm not going out without a fight!! Apparently Dell has a new AM and hopefully this time they'll actually reply to emails. I told them about this thread, so maybe if we're lucky we'll finally see somebody from Dell help an affiliate.

If someone contacts Dell's help online or by phone the customer service rep will tell you that the affiliate rarely gets the commish - even if you tell them that you are the affiliate and tried to purchase via your own link. Gateway does the same thing.

It's a shame these big companies have lost their morals in pursuit of the all mighty dollar.

I will never purchase another manufactured computer again! They are just too easy to build and you can put what you want them.

    Good luck Scott!

Update: I finally received my commission!! It took almost 2 months of weekly emails, but they pulled through. I'm still waiting for a reason why this happened. They promised they'd let me know, but this was about a week or so ago.
