    URL is Ugly Need Help
    My url looks something like this http://www.domainname.com/amazon/asinsearch_B3309EMVMG/

    Is there some way to add the product name to the url or at least the keyword so that it would look something like

    http://www.domainname.com/amazon/Sony-Camera.html

    Is there a way to add the product name and keyword to the meta tags?

    Thanks,
    Dominic

    OT, but you should consider changing your display name (screenname). You're going to get spammed to death when the spam-scrape bots see your email address...

    sony-camera.html would have to be a webpage that you create yourself. The ae.pl script cannot add or use the product name in the URL. It uses the product's ASIN.

    If you're going to create the sony-camera.html file in a directory other than the /amazon/ virtual directory, such as http://www.domainname.com/sony-camera.html then create that HTML file and put something like the following in it:

    <html>
    <body>
    <p>Here's a cool Sony camera:</p>
    <!--#include virtual="/cgi-bin/ae.pl?ssi&asinsearch=B3309EMVMG"-->
    <p>That's all.</p>
    </bod>
    </html>

    Since it contains a Server-Side-Include (SSI) statement, you might have to save the file as sony-camera.shtml rather than .html (your web server might be configured to handle SSI in .html and .shtml).

    If you want to put the sony-camera.html file in the /amazon/ directory (so that /amazon/ is used for real files and virtual files), then create the sony-camera.html file as above and then modify .htaccess to handle real files in /amazon/:

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteBase /

    RewriteRule ^(amazon)$ $1/ [R,L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteRule ^(amazon)/(.*)(\.[a-z]+)$ cgi-bin/ae.pl?virtual=$2&virtual.dir=$1 [L]

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteRule ^(amazon)/(.*)$ cgi-bin/ae.pl?virtual=$2&virtual.dir=$1 [L]

    The two RewriteCond statements are what's different compared to the standard .htaccess file lines to use with ae.pl.
