Just a FYI....
The final stage in the testing of new software before its commercial release, conducted by testers other than its developers.

I don't like that definition. We aren't the developers, and CJ and LinkShare expect us to be their beta testers.
A better definition:
The final stage in testing of new software before its commercial release, tested in a test environment by a small group of people other than its developers.

It's probably more accurate to add to those definitions to say that the "test environment" is overly controlled, pretty much ensuring a great result, and then the place is hit in the face by reality when they release the thing into the wild.
So the effect ends up being a giant open beta even though everything *seemed* fine when they "tested" it!
In any case I hate betaing, near-betaing, or any variations thereof. Production versions should WORK RIGHT!There is no knowledge that is not power. ~Hemingway

actually, i'd go for more. cj should ask and listen to us before wasting their time developing and beta testing something that we can't use anyway. (and worse, replace the one that we really can use)
seems like it was taken over by the dotcom-bust executives.
