Unless you know the person moderating the forum, or you moderate it yourself (plan B), you're in for a seriously long wait. For many sections it can be months (if you're lucky) - years (for many)- never (for most)!

However, I don't think a DMOZ link in really makes a substancial impact these days. Google doesn't give a DMOZ link anywhere near the value it once did...Frankly, I don't think it's worth the bother. I've got a link to one of my sites in DMOZ and the traffic i get from it is marginal. The SERP's didn't move too much either after i got in. Ho Hum...

DMOZ is worthless. It was effective in the past, but with indexing technologies these days directories are quickly becoming extinct.

It's not to say that it WONT help, it certainly wont hurt in anyway. There are still smaller engines that rely on those results, so who knows, you may just recieve a random click that generates a nice $100 commission.

I just wouldn't take too much worrying about getting the site in there.

If you look at just PageRank alone, DMOZ will give a new site a huge boost - typically taking it from PR0 to PR5 very quickly. Of course, you can get that PageRank other ways.. in which case it's much less important.

That's one of my objectives, as well. It'll be sweet poetic justice when oh-so-special DMOZ is outlived--by my pure affiliate sites!

Someday I'll laugh about my aff sites having been barred from boarding the Titanic!
