    Hurricane Relief Effort
    All,

Firstly, to those affected by the events surrounding Hurricane Katrina, we have you in our thoughts and wishes that you are safe, and that you can hopefully return to your homes and lives as soon as possible.

To that end, we know that the American Red Cross will be assisting people and families in an extensive cleanup and recovery effort for the areas surrounding New Orleans, the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and Alabama, and reaching into the SouthEastern States.

In order to assist the Red Cross and other organizations in this task, we will be matching donations made through your ShareASale account over the course of the next week or so. Many of you participated in our last program similar to this which assisted those in need after the South Asia Tsunami, and we hope that we are able to raise similar numbers on this occasion. If you have any questions about this, please let me know directly.

All donations made will be distributed to the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief fund which has been setup by their organization. As stated, each donation will be matched 100% by ShareASale - for details on this all please login to your account (either Affiliate or Merchant) and you will see the link to this program at the top of the page.
    Thanks,

    Brian Littleton

Brian - Are we allow to just use our credit card for donation and not use the funds in our SAS account?

Way to go Brian and SAS!

I assume if we donate from our account this will in effect be automatically tax deductible since it will not show up as income?

Just donated from my account. I assume that my total earnings will be reported as that much less at the end of the year. If that is the case then not only do I have a deduction from total income and get SAS to match funds, but I don't pay self-employment tax on that amount donated. What a deal! If not the case then it's still a great deal since SAS matches the funds.

Brian, I think your efforts to raise and match funds is great. Although I could not donate a lot, I have donated through SAS for both the Tsunami relief effort and the current one.

If it's not being too nosy, how much did SAS end up raising for the Tsunami effort?

It would also be interesting if you could do like fund drives often do and post a running total as the money comes in.

Thanks for the link. I either overlooked it at the time or forgot about having seen it. Probably the latter.

Maybe you could start a relief fund to help replace old memory cells.

I have to say that I get news from Ireland everyday, as usual they were the first to send aid.Like 9/11 then I add my prayers, a lady friend of mine has collected enough to fly there,as a Red Cross member, since she has helped a lot here, coming for Poland to Alabama, she has a kinship with those down in the southern areas.

For those who wanted a status update - and first, thank you goes out to everyone who generously donated to the fund drive... and second, to date there are donations totalling around $8,000 USD. So, well done and thanks to all!

[B]I want to add, that once again those in need are geting aid from all over the country, and other countries we have helped for a long time.I am on a tight budget, sent what I coud, but part of my income goes to St.Jude for children, and the Lakota Indian children's school in South Dakota. This isn't bragging, it's something we learned a long time ago, from my legendary MOm, Betty Bailey, from Dublin. It makes me feel proud to keep saying I am an American first, in the army, we found ways to help Europens, mostly children & DP's, some orphans,God Bless America.

Tight budget here, too. That's what makes Brian's fund matching even more appreciated!
