    html 101 - index.htm or index.html?
    Sorry for how basic this question is.

    In Frontpage, your index page will be saved as index.htm however in servers, the home page is index.html . This can cause all kinds of problems. I have changed all links to have them point to the index.html page and on the index.htm page I put a short redirect script (rather than delete it) in case someone has an old cached page.

    You will be redirected to http://www.my-web-site.c0m.
    <script language="JavaScript">
    var URL = "http://www.my-web-site.c0m";
    self.location = URL;
    </script>

    Did I do this correct?

    why not dupe the html with an htm extension or change the extensions on frontpage to html?
    se's might not like the redirect.

    I have changed all links to point to the index.html page . The reason for the redirect is in case someone is working from a non-updated cached page.

    I have found that it does not matter if you use .htm pages or .html pages. I have sites both ways and it is my opinion that simply does not matter. My server as well as my individual hosting accounts across the web pick either one up just fine.

    Generally, website hosts will show them in order, if one don't exist it will try the next one. Not every host are set the same probably but the list, that I can't remember, may sounds like this:

    index.html
    index.htm
    default.html
    default.htm
    index.php
    etc...
