    LinkShare bought for $425MM
Online marketing acquisitions aren't just limited to Rupert Murdoch after all. Japan's leading online retailer, Rakuten, announced today that it's making its first US purchase, and a major one at that. For the sticker price of $425 million, Rakuten now owns leading affiliate marketing company Linkshare, making it the largest purchase ever by the Japanese business. The deal, in which Linkshare will buy the outstanding 27.365 million Linkshare shares, is expected to go through in 4-6 weeks. The folks at Rakuten, whose main e-commerce business is an online mall with nearly 13,500 shops, says in a statement that they "hope to make LinkShare the core of [our] expansion efforts overseas." While this effort has yet to be clearly defined, Linkshare management need not worry, as Rakuten is promising that this purchase won't affect business as usual. We're looking forward to seeing how long that holds true…

Been away, now I'm back. Not as much, but I'm back & starting from scratch. Where I was, was fantastic. Where I am now, less so. Things have changed, become harder. So have I. Game ON!!!
