    Relentless Merchant Spam
Does anyone else get these relentless - multiple-times-per-day spam solicitations from Campran?

This is just a few days worth!

No matter how many times I tell them I'm not interested... they persist - several friggin' times a day!

    This merchant amazes me.

Every time he sends these multiple spams, I reply with "Not Interseted/Stop spamming us"

He says as long as we're on Linkshare, we give our tacit approval to take as many of these per day as he sees fit to send.

Internal I don't think you can opt out from their mail and you can get all the mail they desire to send, external you can opt to not get mail from a merchant that you are signed up with

    So when you signing up

    Cheers

I Know that - I can't get the merchant to know that :

LinkShare informed us that the only way available to you under the LinkShare affiliate program to ascertain that you receive no unsolicited email in your LinkShare Inbox is to state so in your LinkShare profile. That will stop all unsolicited email to your LinkShare Inbox.
There is no such option for affiliates

If you wish to receive no unsolicited messages, I am kindly requesting you to change your profile on LinkShare to block unsolicited email messages. This is at your option.
Again, no such option. All we have are all or nothing ... or "Deactivate your Account"

Not sure if this will work for you-
    Go to Your Account.
    Click on "E-mail Subscriptions" link
Check the "Do not send me new promotions or newsletters from LinkShare" option

Check the "Do not send me new promotions or newsletters from LinkShare" option
Then I wouldn't get the updates, coupons and sales from the merchants I AM currently partnered with - which would put my website at a disadvantage

I understand I have to get unsolicited spam from merchants that have no relevance to my website(!!!) simply because I joined linkshare...

it's the shear VOLUME of Campran spam that I object to

Yes, when dealing the a network, not an independent, there should be some kind of limit as to what is enough.

    My opinion on Campran:

    1. They FLOOD our mailboxes with these useless solicitations, so they are no better then spammers

    2. When we tell them so, they admit it. They are PROUD spammers

    3. Same as a scraper. Since they don't even target their spam - I sell personalized gifts like $7.99 baby booties - I can't picture myself saying "As long as you're buying the baby bootie, want a $5000 pool table too? - so that shows they care squat about affiliates

    4. And now this:

Campran has two account status with LinkShare, merchant and affiliate. As a condition of enrollment in the LinkShare programs, we consented to receieving unsolicited email in our LinkShare Inbox from other members of the LinkShare program inviting us to work together.
    They are also affiliates?

They want access to my business model and sales data - and they are also stating they are my competitor?? Not gonna' happen!

    IMHO

Linkshare recommends new merchants to sign up as affiliates in order to signup for other programs to "see how it's done". Don't get me wrong...I hate LS!

I complained about the relentless spam...

they threatened to have me kicked off linkshare if I continue to complain:

If you persist, as indicated by your email below, to file complaints against us ... you yourself will become a subject of complaints for improper business practice, and a request to LinkShare that they set your email unsubscription indicator for you, or if they are unable to do so on your behalf, that they remove you from the program altogether.

My cure to the entire email spam game still stands as the only viable option. The 1 cent, or 1/10th of a cent (for legit mass e-mailers) Digi-eStamp model makes even merchant AM's think twice about recruitment blast messages. No Digi-eStamp = No delivery =no free spam!

You mass e-mailing freaks are willing to pay 10 cents/click for PPCSE or BHO browser spam, but object to paying 1/10th of a cent for e-mail sales messages....

    Billy Kay,

Oh My! I can't believe that.

I think we need someone from LS to get their butts in here and moderate this or tell the merchant that is just not appropriate. And I'm really surprised we have not heard from LS on this one yet.

    As Chris has stated:

"Internal I don't think you can opt out from their mail and you can get all the mail they desire to send"

Comes down to the LEGAL definition of spam - some say it just applies to "E"mail, some say it includes internal mail

But I have no qualms being the "Poster Boy" and pushing it to find out

Whatever I got to do to get these people to stop spamming me, I'll do it

Why not just ignore all that network-based email? I never read it. Every now and then I'll go in and delete everything, just in case it overloads my login time. ;-) Any important email from the networks I'll read in my email inbox.

I've been an affiliate at LinkShare for 6 years. I've never read the internal mail and have never deleted any of it. I wonder if this is why they need memory upgrades?

Quite possible Michael. ;-) If everyone has a ton of email loading in their stats, it's got to burn resources and slow things down.
