I have been following Mygeek traffic for the past 4-6 weeks. I am seeing lots of traffic from the very sources disclosed at the bottom of http://www.mygeek.com/adon_network.jsp -- though also some others. (Even big fish like Direct Revenue!)

Much of the Mygeek traffic is cookie-stuffing -- targeting merchants with popups bearing their own affiliate codes. Not nice.

Thanks for the extra info there Ben ! There seem to be more and more of these "CPC Firms" getting in on dirty marketing , probably because they were such failures in doing it ethically.

The list of BHO wanks often booted from the legit networks are shown throughout this Adwhore scumbag paid search operation...

"Cost-Per-View (CPV) provides the advertiser with a unique and effective method of promoting their website through a new window that is generated when a consumer is viewing a website that is contextually relevant to a keyword selected by the advertiser. This new and distinctive way to deliver traffic to your site increases value to you, by bypassing a cluttered page of competitor result listings and taking the user directly to your web site featuring exactly what it is they were searching for. Here a few of the CPV distributors in the AdOn Network:

    180Solutions
    OfferOptimizer
    Qoolaid

    Search Sites

Providing your site access to quality traffic, these sites are some of the best the Internet has to offer. Your listings will have premiere placement and good exposure to consumers searching for your products and/or services. Here are just a few of the Search Sites in the AdOn Network:

    Dotzup.com
    Ditto.com
    Infosonar.com
    Netster.com
    CoolWebSearch.com MorWillSearch.com
    PremiumSearch.net
    Umaxsearch.com
    Search44.com SearchHippo.com
    Searchport.com

    Toolbar, Address Bar Search

Utilizing access to millions of users, these software application distributors deliver your listings directly to a consumer's desktop via a search conducted through a Toolbar or through an Address Bar Search. (These are not traditional search sites and will not display results directly from the web address listed below.) Here are a few of the Toolbar, Address Bar Search distributors in the AdOn Network:

    GrandStreetInteractive.com
    Ieplugin.com
    Search-o-matic2000.com SearchBrowser.com
    VisicomMedia.com
    Webalize.com

The above are familiar with all Malware detect programs and these are just the floaters on the surface.

I included Mygeek in the article I posted today, giving examples of cookie-stuffing / forced clicks via spyware. Several other examples in there too. Perhaps of interest to the folks who flagged MyGeek above.

Also of interest: MyGeek pulled the mention of 180 and DR from the page I linked to above. Fortunately ecomcity quoted the relevant sections of text. Better yet, Google Cache still had a copy, which I accessed and include on my site. See links within the article, in the section reached via the first link above.

Nice work there Ben in exposing how even some ABWers are two faced scumbag commission thieves riding the BHO theftware trains. When you add up the billions of forced cookie setting done by the BHO popups & unders you expose the magnitude of why legit affiliates see plummeting conversion ratios. The tricks for clicks crowd, who prey off all of us following the rules, are growing bolder with their cookie cutter template sites and PPCSE and Theftware for hire games.

Your spot on that the 3 major networks refuse to automate detection of cookie stuffing, forced click scripts and doorway page spam. One only has to look at the fact all original Titanium Award winners were Linkshare TOS & adendium violators. One key point you made was the networks are in denial and refuse to look at factual proof their merchants and legit affiliates are getting ripped off by the elite earners. Maybe the Japanese will inject some honor and ethics into the game via Linkshare. No hope for ValueClick (CJ & BF) or the IAB/DMA/Doubleclick controlled Performics as they're run by professional AdWhore operations with one goal... pillage Ad budgets under the smoke screens of mass reach. Were all getting screwed without any courtesy reach-around.

Thank God you aren't hamstrung by having to worry about protecting page views from the scumbags lurking at ABW to find victims. Therefore Haiko's renig on the OUTING of affiliates and setting up a public ABW Hall of Shame to protect honest AM's. Bet Ben is starting to memorize the same Affiliate ID#s riding the theftware trains, while stuffing cookies and cranking out ecommerce and porn spam.

Take the expertise acquired by this site to stuff cookies via a BHO, on page scrips, multiple iFrames as just the tip of his rape and pillaging of merchants commission piles. Don't let the one page false front fool you to what doorway pages he hides underneith.

Funny since I rejeceted their application, they contacted me to ask why, I told them... now rather than saying "great we'll drop them", they have simply removed the mention of these partners from their web site... obviously don't want people seeing who the real traffic drivers are.....

Now you see why the networks need to sever the relationships with these PPCSE traffic scammers and forced click cheats. Syndicating out to the black hat playas in the affiliate underworld requires you share the grief they'll cause you in the long run. The networks who want a legit ethical moniker best cut the money ties to the known TOS and CoC violators. Guys like Ben and Eliot Spitzer are blowing away the smoke screens and putting holes in the monitizing schemes of known affiliate bad actors. If I were a merchant I'd be getting real pissed that AM's are ripping me off through turning a blind eye to commission thieves.

Chris's clients have nothing to worry about... he's an Adwhore gun slinger..

Today I posted screenshots of 21 major advertisers funding Direct Revenue. I focused on advertisers that are big and well-known -- companies regular folks have heard of. But I didn't give any special preference to any particular kind of ad placements.

Tellingly, six of my 21 ads came through MyGeek, including ads for CheapTickets, Howard Johnson, Netflix, Netzero, People PC, and Vonage. So MyGeek has quite a customer list -- but these ads keep appearing in all the wrong places.

We all know and Hate 180Solutions for acting as a forced cookie stuffing vehicle for rogue affiliates, 3rd world PPCSEs, and CPA networks. The friggin Adwhores running mygeek.com and the Adon Netwank should be the next target of all ABWers and the victim merchants of their popup/unders and full page overlays. Crankup the sniffer tools following the money trail on this operation Ben. Report them to the FTC and the various groups you advise on parasitic advertising. Their entire bogus traffic sources (BHO searchbar install routines) and forced cookie setting clicks violate network TOS. Yet they thrive as Super affiliates and cookie washers.

I have had nasty spyware/adaware on my computer for months, which I can't get rid of. I have spent days trying to remove it, but it uses devious techniques to remain on my computer. It is the only piece of spyware/adaware that I have never been able to remove. I am going to have to format my whole hard-drive and reload everything again, as that is the only solution I can think of.

I don't know what the adaware is or where it came from because they hide that for obvious reasons. But it causes targeted pop-ups to appear on my computer when I visit many websites.

I have noticed that some of the pop-ups that appear have "mygeek" in the URL in the address bar of the pop-up. I am not accusing MyGeek.com without further evidence, but there are many articles on the net about them using their CPV (Cost Per View) technology to show unwanted pop-ups e.g. http://searchviews.com/archives/2006...tifying_cp.php .

MyGeek sells CPV advertising through MyGeek.com and one of their biggest partners Lycos (USA). I myself was contacted about buying CPV advertising, but MyGeek slyly refused to provide details of the source of this traffic.

I happened to see MyGeek involved in a lengthy scheme that showed sexually-explicit images to spyware-infected users who had requested no such images. See http://www.benedelman.org/news/062206-1.html , fourth example.

That's horrifying Ben (that was a brilliant talk you gave here in London a few weeks back by the way). I keep seeing popups for AdultFriendFinder - embarrasing when I'm working on the net with clients or friends next to me.

I'm sure this cookie stuffing system/browser hijacking activity by MyGeek, and their scumbag partners, are just drooling over attacking the new Google CPA network. Now the millions of "made for Adsense" template sites will perform more drive-by's for the commission thieves.

Nice view of what's one layer deep from the MyGeek Adwhore operation...

    Great work Ben!!!

The FTC should shutdown MyGeek for what they do. They damage a lot of parties along the way.
