    Earning your trust
I represent the CoProsper Affiliate Network and have only recently joined ABW. I've done quite a bit of reading through old threads to find out what affiliates look for in an affiliate program or affiliate network. Trust seems to be the most important thing, which is no surprise. I would like to find out what we, as an affiliate network, can do to earn your trust.

Heres 4 things. I'm sure others have more.
    1) Pay affiliates what they are owed & ontime.
    2) Let affiliates know if something is wrong w/ tracking or reporting instead of making them figure it out themselves.
    3) Don't partner with, or promote, bad actors such as parasites or sleazy merchants.
    4) Let affiliates know about any major changes or planned downtime.

One major thing is to make sure that your site doesn't have leaks where affiliate codes can be lost. I always check the affiliate programs that I work with for leaks. I found one that wasn't passing through aff codes when people bought through phone/fax. That was really poor. It seemed like a ligitimate mistake but you never know.. And the Big one is.. Don't steal sales. I'm sure every company out there is skimming somehow.

Thanks, simcat. Very good feedback. Common sense really, if you think about it, isn't it.

The most important thing seems to be honest communication and that's what we pride ourselves on. I guess everybody would say that and the only way we can back it up is to prove it.

As we are a relatively new network, having only been launched early this year, what things (functionality, features, offers, support etc) do you look for before you join a network, particularly a new one?

madballa, sounds like you've had quite a few bad experiences with inaccurate stats. Why do you think that every company is skimming? Do you think it's because of inadequacies in tracking or a deliberate attempt to defraud affiliates?

I can't speak for other affiliate networks or programs but I'd have to say that doing that deliberately would be pretty stupid practice. Once word comes out about things like that it surely is the end of the program.

Yes, if word ever does come out it could end a company. Some of us affilates are pretty smart when it comes to tracking so when our tracking indicates that we've made sales, and then no sales come in, it's suspicious that's all. Some affiliate friends of mine have caught companies doing this, but, needless to say those companies are no longer around.

That doesn't surprise me. It really isn't that difficult to find out if there is something suspicious going on with the tracking. I would encourage affiliates to always test the tracking tags before commencing a campaign. Hard to believe that some companies still try to skim, though. However, having said that, it also depends on which method a particular tracking technology uses (cookies, IP-based, session-based, URL parameters) as to whether leads or sales are correctly recorded and allocated to the affiliate. I would say that quite often leads or sales are 'lost' due to limitations in the technology.

Normally, the paid ads through ABW are received very well.

I signed up, but I was not interested in most of the campaigns (as is the case with many CPA networks). There was one that I'm already promoting, but your payout is about 20% lower than the base rate at another network.

I also found it odd that more than a dozen campaigns showed conversion ratios over 100% and several dozen showed conversion ratios of 0.00%.

Thanks for your noteworthy feedback, Nature Boy. Just to let you know though, all applications are processed via a secure environment (https://partner.coprosper.com). This is also the case, where once logged in, all affiliate details and statistics are hosted in a secure environment. Our design team has chosen this in order to keep the site design aesthetically the same throughout.

    Cheers

Cheers for taking a look at our site, Mail Man, and noting our Merchant Showcase, which shows some of our highest CPA/CPL rates. We also have a variety of other campaigns available that may be more to your liking via the 'NEW & TOP Campaigns' link of http://www.coprosper.com/cp-top-campaigns.php. I've noted for our designer that perhaps this link is not as obvious as should be and that the Merchant Showcase could do with greater mixture of industries available within our network.

I have to say that we're pleasantly surprised at how very well our first paid ad with ABW has been received. Forging new relationships with affiliates is always exciting and we hope this continues, growing from strength to strength so that we may also start a CoProsper Network Forum of our own here at ABW.

I searched hard for the minimum payment amount. Found something that implied $100 but nothing positive. So I asked the live person. $150. No thanks.

Missdonna I agree $150 is too high. Also they promote SmileyCentral is this a parasite?
Payouts seem to be lower than other networks I already work with.

Presently we have well over 100 campaigns available to all our affiliates, as well as private invitation based and exclusive ones for high traffic driving and earning affiliates.

We are always striving to bring new offers on board for our affiliates at the best and most competitive rates possible and since affiliates always want the biggest of rates possible, we like other networks represent you as a group (bulk traffic) to our merchants, striving to achieve this.

With this being the nature of our industry, no one networks can compete on rates across all campaigns solely, and though we will do our best to match and better others, we also value add our affiliate relationships with prompt payments, dedicated support and frequent promotions just to name a few of our beneficial points of difference.

As you noted, Michael Coley, out of all these campaigns several show ratios of zero conversions and EPCs. This is because they are yet to be utilized by our existing affiliates (though we hope that with the paid ad on ABW, this will soon change ).

Also with the conversion metric being impressions based, some campaigns show greater then 100% conversion when affiliates modify tracking tags . Though you've all heard it many times before from other affiliate networks and programs, I've got to say it again:

Please do not modify your tags, but rather contact us direct to discuss alternatives for your needs! That is what we are here for!

We ask this for the sake of ensuring that your tracking remains correct and you are properly rewarded for your traffic. By maintaining code integrity your statistics and the overall pool are also kept as correct as possible and differences like the above discussed are avoided.

If you're using impressions to calculate the conversion ratio, you're doing something wrong. Conversion ratio is commissionable actions / clicks. Impressions don't enter into the picture.

You're never going to get all of your affiliates to use impression tracking. Many of us have database driven systems, display many offers per page, and don't want the slower user experience that impression tracking causes.

I was with Azoogle a while back and as a network they really impressed me by offering guaranteed payments.

I have always had an issue with the way most networks claim no liability if the merchant does not pay them. As a network affiliate, if the company does not pay, I cannot go after the network because they say it is the Merchant's fault, and I cannot go after the merchant because I only have a legaly binding relationship with the network.

It's a legal can of worms.
