Banners not shown due to Norton's blocking
    Hi,
It's been said that Norton (and prob other programs) can block some banners from showing.
What's the last update on that?
    What sizes are being blocked?
And, is creating banner with 1 pixel smaller or bigger sizes effective to avoid blocking?

    Thanks a lot

You can download the banner and serve it yourself. Do not use the width="468" height="60" attributes. This is what the software uses to block your banners.
The networks add these attributes to the link so if you are using the code supplied by the network, you should remove that part.

I think altering it by 1 pixel will work, but it's just a matter of time before they figure that out and target those sizes too, if they haven't already.

I believe Norton, et al are catching on to the 1 pixel smaller or bigger idea. They look for many attributes beyond pixel sizes. I think the file with all the elements has been posted here before (we could probably do with a fresh version for evaluation). I remember it also looks for words like "advertisment" or "sponsor" in addition to specific domains and IAB pixel standards.

If you are concerned about the pixel dimensions, you can choose to not use them - it will make the ads load a few tenths of a second slower though.

At CJ we provide publishers the option of encrypting their links, which removes the words "click" and "image" as well as the pixel dimensions.

I asked one of my Linkshare merchants to create a 124x126 button to avoid Norton to which they quickly complied with a great graphic.

I don't know if Norton has caught on yet, though.
