I rely on the network to insure the merchant pays what they claim to pay.
I seek out the merchant TOS regardless of what the network says.
About half and half.
It depends on if a reputable AM manages the program.

If you join a program on a network and the network states that the program pays X% commission and makes no mention of tiers or lower commissions tied to certain products, do you still go to the merchant's site and read their terms if they have them posted on the affiliate page of their web site?

If there are good people running the show, I assume both places would say the same thing. If it's something totally new to me, I'll waste time double checking.
