Oh how to choose how to choose?
I am comparing stores in another window at ShareASale. Is there something I should be looking besides just basic payouts when choosing one? I love all of the little icons that tell me more about the merchant - especially the direct deposit, auto approve and datafeed icons. I would think that the direct deposit one will always be one I'll be on the lookout for.

    Check the EPC's.

If there are positive figures there, sales are being tracked and paid for.

    If all $0.00's, who knows?

Checking the epc should not be the only thing you look for, Check their site.
Do they have a affiliate page? Does the site look professional? Look thru the forum? Are they represented here?

epc at zero could mean many things, one of these might be that the site is new and has not yet gotten loads of affiliaes producing.

You can look at this as less competion for you.

Basically look for a program that fits what your site is about.

Autoapprove is not that important at all if they have a good AM.

    Auto deposit YES

Data Feed Yes if that is what you are looking for

Communication with an active AM is always the best indication of a better than average program . . . unless it's canned spam responses with nothing but ad spins. But, on the whole, most AMs who are concerned about affiliates will write back fairly quickly. If you wait longer than 3 or 4 days the likeliness of it being a good bet to run with drops big time no matter what the product(s) are.

3-4 days? Is that how long AM's are taking to get back to their affiliates? I would lose patience much quicker than you. I respond to my affiliates usually within 12-16 hours, and maybe 1-2 hours during office hours.

Just curious but are long response times from AM's the norm? I use to be an affiliate and always hated delays. After 2 days - I would have dropped them

    Cheers,

I try and respond within 12 hours (reason is I am in Asia so 12 hours ahead of the east coast. Weekends same. I figure if someone has a question for me it deserves my response ASAP. After all that is one of my job descriptions.

Its strange but I am also an affiliate and make ok money. The site I am an affiliate for has NEVER responded to any emails, has never sent out a newsletter and I don't even think they have an AM but the wires arrive like clockwork every week :-)

    Richard,

It pleases me to see you participate. I am sure one of the factors, althought not mentioned, is an affiliate managers participation at abestweb.

Look for best-converting ones, Patrick. And make sure they are on Auto Deposit!
