    GreenZap & Commission Junction
I was curious to find out that GreenZap has released this press release: GreenZap Announces Affiliation with Online Marketing Giant Commission Junction.

GreenZap is a controversial payment system (styled on PayPal and eGold) which has come in for some negative commend (see Google) about the legitimacy (and legality) of its business model.

From reading the press release, it appears that GreenZap is puffing up what just appears to be a pretty standard affiliate relationship. What's curious is that the press release also contains the standard "About ValueClick" blurb on the press release. I cannot find a copy of this press release on either the CJ or ValueClick site.

My question is this - is this an authorised press release using the Commission Junction and ValueClick names? Or are GreenZap attempting to use Commission Junction's standing to boost the profile of their business without CJ/ValueClick's authorisation? It does look like a joint press release.

Given the controversial nature of this business, I would be curious to see CJ's response to GreenZap's press release.

    that is odd.

as you said, i have heard numerous negative comments abt greenzap.

and this press release abt the affiliation with CJ.. thats strange..

either CJ must be out of their mind or just a stunt by greenzap..

CJ will turn away nobody. They are all about the money and apparently don't care if the business is legitimate or not.

    yahoo article says...
.. GreenZap, with several aspects of its company still in beta phase...

    and says...
...and rewards its members for using GreenZap's services. WebCash(TM), GreenZap's rewards dollar, is an electronic currency that can be spent at partnering merchants...

Cheater Junction is the perfect home for these guys...

Yeah but my point was not the CJ accepted them, but that GreenZap appear to be trying to use CJ's name to boost their standing.

    Greenzap and CJ
The press release was to simply notify the public to the fact that Greenzap chose CJ to monitor its massive affiliate program. GZ is now a public company and is second only to PayPal in members. By the way Google paypal and you will see that there are detractors everywhere!

Even PayPal was a baby once. GreenZap is being accepted by some eBay power sellers now. Any one can sign up with Greenzap as a merchant and begin using Greenzap as a payment means. Go to their site and hit the sell item once your account is verified. GreenZap is nothing like ebates, imho.

this part - the part I liken to ebates - has yet to be completely unveiled...

Tad are you tied in someway to GreenZap? I've always found in interesting what threads people choose to post their first posts.

    1) Funnily enough, the StormPay site seems to be MUCH busier that GreenZap (see chart).
    2) So it wasn't authorised by CJ at all then?

    Hi Todd,

This wasn't mean to be a CJ bashing thread by the way! I'm just querying the relationship between GreenZap and CJ, particularly the way GreenZap seems to be offering what appear to be joint press release.

It appears that GreenZap is delivering on all its promises and will emerge as a long-term competitor to PayPal. The CJ - GreenZap affiliation is a smart move for both firms. GreenZap members receive discounts on CJ affiliate products/services via WebCash. CJ affiliates get to reduce their transaction fees via GreenZap's low transaction fees.
