Here is a new variation (to me) on the email scams coming from Africa. I noticed she sent the email from a different address than she wants the replies going to.

hand, during the war my left hand was cut of and i am about entrying the
university but i was told to carry out an operation before i will be given
which i consulted a surgical doctor an expert in the field and working in a
specilist hosiptal.which told me that the operation will cost up to $3,000
us dollar(three thousand us dollar),to carry out the operation.
I am making an appeal to you to render me some useful assistance,so that
i can carry out the operation successfull, for god love a cheerfull giver.
It met not be all the money needed but a usefull sum of money.Reply me

several years ago an electronics engineer in the U.S., who was unemployed, fell for it. in this case someone was placing items on eBay they didn't have, and the money came to him and he forwarded it on to Middle Europe people. He never questioned the high commission, just enjoyed it until the FBI came knocking. He actually was acquitted, but was probably one of the first cases to come to light.
