Smile Give your own definition of SPAM
Yeah, it is a top popular word and everywhere you go you can find it. Can some of you give your own understanding or definition of spam?
Since I work as affiliate manager, I get dozens of new e-mails every morning I open my e-mail box. Doubtlessly, not all of them are important and intereted. However, I scan all of them and pick those important ones and let go the others. In my opinion, spam are e-mails from those who send you the same version several times a day and 365 days a year.
E-mails that inclose presently-uninterested information also called spam by most of people? For example, if I find a new website that may be a good prospective affiliate for my company I will send them an e-mail to check if they are interested in affiliating with us or not. That will be treated as a spam by some of them.

To me spam = any method of advertising to multiples of people without their direct permission, intended user action or prior knowledge.

A contact page on a website should be seen as a legitimate way for an affiliate manager to contact a prospective affiliate by 99% of affiliates. It means you at least visited the site and found the contact page, lol. I'm one of those pickier than most about how I'm contacted, but contacting me through my website contact page is totally legit. That's what it's there for.

Contacting me through a network interface is legit. It's part of the deal.

Contacting me through an email address for a network from outside that network is, in my highly opinionated opinion, SPAM. It's lifting my network address out of the network for unsolicited commercial purposes. I'll report that puppy to SpamCop in nothing flat. And if your host is responsible about Spam reports, that will mean trouble for you.

I've had that happen with KB and LS now.

    Ok!

Before Affiliate Marketing this was my definition of spam:

    ...

After Affiliate Marketing these are my definition of spam:

    -----------------------------------------

E-mails that inclose presently-uninterested information also called spam by most of people?
    Yes!

For example, if I find a new website that may be a good prospective affiliate for my company I will send them an e-mail to check if they are interested in affiliating with us or not. That will be treated as a spam by some of them.
    Most likely yes!

If you find a new website that may be a good prospective affiliate for YOUR company and you send them an e-mail to check if they are interested in affiliating with you or not, it will depends on what do you say on that email, to whom you send that email on that website, and more importantly, how many emails you send to that website.

Anyone that has any email address for a while, will eventually get to know and understand the true definition of spam, whether a person never send any unsolicited email or they are a real Spam-King, sooner or later everyone knows what it's considered spam or not.

Now, whatever they decide to do that after that, it will rest on their shoulders and whatever penalty they incur later, that will be their problem.

BTW, I HATE SPAM, unless it's this kind of course.

    Sal.

Please, whatever you do, don't say what those pieces or something are.

Leave the Spam (1. A canned meat made largely from pork) alone.

The last time that I read what they use to make some Hot Dogs, it took me over a year to eat the next one.

Also, I used to like Slim-Jim's and Beef-Jerky's, but long ago I heard that they were made with Horse Meat, so I quitted eating them too.

Some times it's better not to know what ingredients they put on those things.

It's e-mail sent by those not willing to pay 1/10 of a cent in bulk Digi-eStamp fees to me and Charlie and Uncle Sam.

Quite amazing! So we are talking about food rather than something I intended to get from you? It is OK though, just please don't forget to speak out your opinion about it while you are talking about this one. I don't think I have the opportunity to see it here in China

    Hi, Sam
Can you put it more specificly, for example, in which situation is it from or about? Because I guess we may all have our own idea of it and we are all right basing on where we are.Thanks.

    chenyingjing,

I don't like any email Spam, specially those that are about getting rich, sex, drugs, porno, watches, products for sale, etc, etc.

But, If you really want to know more about the Spam issue, here are two links on which you may find some more info about email Spam.

The CAN-SPAM Act: Requirements for Commercial Emailers

    and

    FTC - SPAM

It's too bad that we can't just reply to all of those spammers with a link to a script that will go into an infinity loop until their machines get overheated and burn their OS and ass.

(Maybe one day it will be possible to do that.)

But, until then, we just have to put all the in the and

    Any more questions about Spam?

E-mail, SERP and Browser spammers can all suck the dingleberries out of some Avain Flu sick birds butt. No icon photo necessary to visualize this unless Sal has a good one handy.

    Hi, Everyone
Thanks for all your individual opinion on such a topic, now shall we let it go or put it in some other way?
Now I have a new question, are there some practical ways of running an affiliate program without causing any inconvenience to others, whatever the way is?I look forward to hearing from all of you.
