    Random Wm Field Generator
Hey Guys, ive been using webMerge For about a month now, and im starting to understand it better, I want to know if it is possible to ramdomly pull in data from a database?

I.E. Say i have 10 coloums in my DB named 1 to 10, i want to randomly choose coloums between 5 and 10 , lets say [WM field random nolink] randomly picks a coloum from 5 to 10 and puts the data in my html

Also the data in each coloum is satic, I mean each cell in its coloum has the same data but each coloum ( 5 to 10 ) has different data

Thanks to everyone that can help!

That would be really a usefull thing to have. With a random function I could create pages with a more mixtured style of content.

So I would assume create pages in .shtml and use a script such as geckotribe? Would that work?

    - prefer php SSIs - more flexible, for on-page or off-page scripts
    - operate .php or .shtml pages as .html pages, through your httpd.conf or .htaccess file configuration
    - determine what you wish to randomize and then write or pick the suitable script for each case

    hope this helps

Are there free scripts that can be used with webmerge for that purpose?

By the way how long should we wait for this feature to be release? I'd really need this!

Keep up with the good work!!

Look at how My Content generator works. You may be able to play with it to get much of what you want for static pages.

It seems simple enough to add, but to do it well it would be useful to know more about your intended purpose. For example, if the reason you're interested in pulling random data would be to vary text, it might be simpler to provide a means of hooking in a lookup table to synonyms rather than creating a new column for each one.

Can you describe your goal more specifically?
