Talking My 5 year anniversary with cj
I was looking through the reports and came upon my past payment report. It shows all the checks I have received from cj. Anyway, my first check from cj was dated September 20 2000. It was a check for $48.28. This means I have been with cj for over 5 years now. My where does the time go :-)

I'm looking at the transactions for that month (well the month before) Almost all my income was from clicks back then and all of those merchants except one is gone. Outdoordecor is the only one who survived. My I've come a long way, way back then I didn't even have my own domain name.

If anyone else wants to tell how much their first check was with one of the major affiliate networks (cj, linkshare, whatever else you was using back then) share away. It might be interesting to the newbies who are just starting out.

Interesting we both started the same date. I suspect the records just go back that far.

First CJ check was $55.86 in December 2002.
I did receive affiliate checks before, I think the first one was for $6, in 1999, from Homestead.com

My first check was in June of 99
it was from Goto.com when they were with befree.

2 cents per search the check was 122.34 cents

My school wanted me to make a home page for them and I set it up and the teacher said since I made it I could keep any money

The 2nd check was for my own site from etoys.com after they filed for bankruptcy.

My first check came from 24/7 Media back in Feb, 1997. I think it was about $200 or so, but I can't really remember. My first CJ check was in Feb of 2004 for $456.52. Took me that long to learn about affiliate marketing! Of course there was a break in between while I acquired my degree. I can't even imagine where I'd be today if I had learned about affiliate marketing back in '97. Maybe it didn't exist? All I knew was CPM advertising.

Dang that was hard to find! Harder than finally get past the $25.00 mark to get the first check. I have been with CJ since 1998 ... so take heart new affiliate marketers! It DOES get better.

    20-Sep-2001 $27.00

And it took me about three or four months to hit that $25 minimum back then. Since that check I've had one every month since then from CJ.

Thanks for this post. I had not idea over four years had flown by already. Sometimes I fell like I've been doing this forever. Other times it seems like I'm still a rookie.

If in 1996 your first check was for $1878.90

    and now you say:
    That's my2cents 'cuz, all I have is 2 cents....
What did you did with the rest of the $1878.88 from that check?

    :-)

The CJ payment history doesn't go back to 1998. I see the smallest monthly check I got from CJ in Y-2000 was $174.96. That was from a few converting merchants using banners, text links and a few individual product links. I was nieve then trying to get AM's to get better landing pages and more in-stock product links so all at ABW could prosper. Made the mistake of mentioning here the high conversion merchants and every shanky ABWer cookie trickster whacked them so bad they've never recovered, and now employ diversion tactics and house account cookie washing.

First CJ check was 20-Dec-2001 for £40.92 (about $70). That took a little while to reach.. especially since I signed up with CJ back in June 1999.

I think my first affiliate check ever was $23.02 from Amazon.com in April 2000. I think I joined them sometime in 1999 too.

Here's some other personal ancient history:

    • Dynamoo.com is 5 years old on 24th November 2005.
    • The first reference of any type to a website run by me was 5th June 1995.
    • The first reference of any kind relating to me on the internet is a Usenet news posting from 16th June 1988.

Of course if I knew *then* what I know *now*, I could have invented:

    • The World-Wide Web
    • eBay
    • Viagra
