Wilma - ARC may be closed for a few days
    Hello all,

I could just have copied and pasted this post from the last 2 hurricanes but will elaborate a little more.

One more time, we are faced with a Hurricane. Wilma, now the strongest storm in the history of record keeping as per the National Hurricane Center has its eyes on South / Central Florida.

We made the call late last night to postpone the second AMC Seminar, full details are here:
    http://forum.abestweb.com/showthread.php?t=61070

We are taking this one very serious as its acting very strange for a storm this size this time of year. it's forecated to go down to a cat 2 or cat 3 on landfall but experince has told us not to rely too much on intensity projections. Personally, we are preparing for a possible cat 5 and taking no chances.

They are expecting landfall on Saturday night at sometime but the winds and rain should start late Thursday according to the NHC. This thing has mushroomed overnight and its a monster of a storm.

    http://www.wunderground.com/tropical...524_model.html

If we don't reply to email immeadiately or calls we are in full storm preparations later today and tomm.

Everyone in South and Central Florida should really keep a close eye on this one folks....( Asif, Pat, Scott, Mike etc.)

    Wish us luck...

It's hard to believe yet another powerful Hurricane is headed towards the United States.

Note to Mother Nature: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! (She's obviously pissed off at the human race right now...)

Everyone in its path please take precautions EARLY, and get the heck out of there! My fear living in Ft. Lauderdale years ago was trying to head north to safety. Not too many choices, I-95 and Florida's Turnpike. Both nightmares on a good day.

I'm going to hope that this one fizzles out before it can do any damage.

You all in Fla stay safe!

I don't see how you do it with so many Hurricanes - one was more than enough for me. We are just now starting to recover some and the thought of another is just almost too much.

I hope you all will be safe!!

I know it sounds silly, but the other 340-odd days of the year (when you're not glued to the Weather Channel or in line at Home Depot getting supplies or stuck on the highway evacuating) are pretty nice. :-)

I'm too tired from preparing for Wilma. So here is my post from the last one:

Hopefully we'll all talk soon again none the worse for wear.

To all in FL, you know the risks and the drill. Be safe and take care. Hoping that it does minimal damage and turns out to nothing more than just a PITA.

I did head up here to shovel snow and I far prefer it to dodging hurricanes. If you've never done hurricane prep you have no idea how much easier shoveling is.

Good luck to all in the path of the most recent mess to roll in off the Atlantic.

    Good luck FLians!

    I can't imagine preferring shoveling.

Stay dry and safe, Andy. Meanwhile I'm packing suitcases for a Sat. flight to Cancun and watching them evacuate the place on TV. Hmmm.

Anyone know of a few good places in the Carolinas for an impromptu weekend vacation? We may make a run for it if it maintains a cat 4 or 5 and the tracks remain the same...

    Ernie,

Cancun may never be the same if Wilma does a direct hit there as now forecasted....

Cancun in in a direct path with the eye of the storm...

    Hello all,

Everyone in South Florida, Naples southward...

If questioning whether to install your shutters or not, err on the side of caution and cover your windows. Wilma may now be a cat 3 at landfall and the risk of tornados are very high.

This is all over the media, but incase you "aren't' looking and are rading this - get the hell off the PC and go install your shutters and or plywood.....

    Stay safe all....
