    800 Numbers & New Networks
I see a lot of new networks lately and all seem about the same as usual. One of my main PEEVES with merchants is how they do NOT do anything about compenstion for 800 number customer calls. I think it should be a prerequisite of any new network to make sure that any affiliates that join are able to be compensated when a customer uses a merchant's 800 number. SURELY there are ways to ensure this happens FOR US LOWLY AFFILIOTS (affiliate idiots).

And, just a thought . . . if we removed merchants from our sites that very prominantly display their 800 numbers, how many would we have left?

WE NEED A WEB-WIDE APPLICATION TO TAKE CARE OF AFFILIATES WHEN A CUSTOMER USES AN 800 NUMBER TO ORDER.

    Anybody listening?

    commissions on phone orders..
    bwc,

I wanted to let you know how Backcountry.com handles this.

When a user comes through an affiliate link we grab the PID (we're with CJ) from the URL, and then display it in the upper right corner of the header as a Ref #. This gives our affiliates assurance that their PID has been captured and the sale tracking.

Our customer support staff always asks the customer if there is a reference number "in the upper right corner next under the sale button". This number can be a PID, paid search identifier, newsletter code, etc.

We have found that our affiliates appreciate the ability to easily see that their links are working correctly.

I hope this information is helpful..

So WHY TF is this solution NOT WEB-WIDE?
Thank you Gary, I wasn't yelling at you. But, have you noticed? This thread has been up for hours and only ONE merchant responds? And NOT ONE NETWORK~!

WTF~!? Lets get on the ball Networks and Merchants.
