Affiliate marketing is not for everybody. It's getting harder and harder. But I can testify it works even with Networks not really helping us and Search Engines monitizing their traffic more and more. Parasites are not taking it all, you need to find niches too difficult for them to reach.

True. SO true, Zeus! Good content affiliate sites win more and more these days (compared to just those that feature products).

    Search Engines are our friends
Some SEs don't understand what a good site is.

They need education in that area...

if the AM biz was easy everyone would be doing it profitably...

AM is just like any other business... some are going to make piles of money others not so much... some will not make even one dollar...

this is the risk... I'm ok with it... even if some times I only making a few dollars..

I started my AM career 10 years ago with static content pages befor there was adsense... then moved to dynamic datafeed... now I'm moving to a blend of content pages and datafeed pages... I even have a few adsense type pages for bulk... when the next hot thing hits the net... I'll give that a go as well....

I'm to old and lazy to get a real job again.. so of the AM ville i go...

Yep. This business is not for everyone.
Unfortunately (for them) parasites, search engines and networks don't have the knowledge that many of us do about the niches we promote.
As long as I have specific knowledge of certain consumer goods and there is a merchant who will pay me to send them sales, I will be able to make a living at affiliate marketing.

I'm happy where I am and where I'm going with Affiliate Marketing (and Merchant).
But can't say it's a joke (yet). Perhaps it'll be funnier when I can afford an island and need to work less.

I bet you thought, your post would have as much success as the "Just can't get motivated" one... Sorry. Wrong assumption. Most people around here would not support the statement...

Sorry to see you get beat up Electropulse! But I have to agree with you. Yes there are some here making money and making good money because they have Niche sites.
Lets look at the search engines. They were designed to be information directories and not shopping sites. Now they have emerged into huge shopping sites. They have some of the same banners most of our merchants offer us. Many of our merchants have adsense ads too. You put a merchants banner on your site and a adsense ad and voila, there is the same merchant. The only problem there is that they pay huge dollars for that Google ad. Type in SHOPPING into all the search engines and see who all the big players are. So unless you have deep pockets to buy ads on Google, forget getting a good placement on the search engines. It's all about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
The Networks. Oh yes the "TRUSTED THIRD PARTY!
They act as a go between us and the merchants. They design the banners and charge a monthly fee for their services.and along with this they also act as our accountants. They keep track of all the sales and see that we get paid.Hey, don't forget they also get a percentage or ALL of sales we generate. It's that TRUST thing again. You know TRACKING that seems to be a real issue here.
Oh, and then there is the merchant. You know the one thats has a 1-800. no! The one that reverses all your sales! The one that says there was no sales! The one that says tracting was not working.! And then there is the merchant who has absolutely no intentions of ever paying, but uses affiliates to give their site a boost. You know ,get thousands of new vistors from our sites.
Welcome to the world of affiliate marketing Electropulse!
I would rather get $1.00 per month from all the merchants I have listed then all the "BULLSHIT"

Well if that's your view of affiliate marketing, you should quit now. Besides lack of traffic, one of the biggest problems people have is they grab onto a "crutch mentality" that they can't make any money because of the problems out there. These problems affect everybody to one extent or another but some make lots of money and some make zip. What's the difference between those people?
