    Amazon Strikes Again........
    The last two months, off and on, I have searched for a specific product line.... CJ had 0 items, SAS had 0 items, LS had 1 merchant with a fairly odd program, so I was puzzled as to what I was going to do with this domain.

    At 1:30AM last night, I remembered to, at last, check Amazon: 112 items, very nice quality, perfect for my little niche site.

    Woohoo!
    Following everyone else is a GREAT way to become average.

    I've been just starting to use GoldenCAN to reach into their collections. Lots of potential there.

    Widgets Yeah, Amazon is nice for finding niche products. Also like all the merchants they have that don't have an affiliate program but thru Amazon they kinda do.

    We have widgets! Just have to find a good category to place them into...

    On the second comment: yes, this is definitely the GREAT part about Amazon merchants! 100% agree with you.

    Hehe, that's for ME to know.... but it is in the $500-$700 price range, so I'm glad I found someone that stocks it.

    Amazon always has what you're looking for. Just wish they paid better and making links through their interface wasn't so impossible. If I could make links that actually worked 100% of the time and that pointd to what I want to point to, I'd have all my angles covered through Amazon, providing I couldn't find a better paying merchant with the same stuff.

    A PLEA to Amazon: please figure out how to make it EASY to use and create your links for specific product. Also, many times the categoy banners/links don't work and redirect to Amazon home page which defeqats the whole purpose of creating direct category links. Also, if you could find it in your hearts to pay a higher %, we'd all love you more. ;-)

    Some people just find what they want on Amazon and then create the link without logging into Amazon to build links.
    Like this I believe:
    h ttp://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ASIN#oftheitemhere/yourAmazonidhere
    or
    h ttp://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ASIN#oftheitemhere/ref=nosim/yourAmazonidhere

    Thank you DD!
    I know about the ASIN # to make a specific item link, never could figure out how to link to a category though.

    I still think Amazon could afford to put together an easier product and ctegory linking method. I'd be direct linking to hundreds of specific products if the made it easy. As it is now, I just don't bother looking for what I want to feature on Amazon becasue of this issue. I have tried to create category links so many times and they just don't work, no matter which method I use that they offer.

    It's tough to beat Amazon.com for the depth of products available and the brand recognition. Despite their negatives (no return days, fairly low commissions, and quarterly payments), their positives give tremendous results. Most people you could send their way already have an account (one less barrier to closing the sale) and trust them (resulting in increased conversions).

    Like DollarDaze says, once you see how their links work, you can create them by hand very easily and quickly.

    For product links:

    Code:
    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/{asin}/{myid}/ref=nosim
    For non-product links:

    Code:
    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect?tag={myid}&path=tg/browse/-/{node}
    or

    Code:
    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect?tag={myid}&path=tg/feature/-/{node}

    Being rather dense about programming and code, I have no idea what this part "&path=tg/feature/-/{node}[/CODE]" means though. What goes where? LOL - Sorry ... but I so appreciate the information. I'll use it once I know how.

    For instance, if you want to link to this page:

    Code:
    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/browse/-/172282
    and your affiliate ID is "abw", you would use:

    Code:
    http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect?tag=abw&path=tg/browse/-/172282

    I try to use that but I only need the straight link code, not all the text or html. When I try to pull just the link code from the link they supply, it always just points to the home page. Drives me crazy. If you're using the entire html code they provide in the 'link to any page' creator, it's a non-issue but I write my own text and need just the link to drop into my text which I could never get to work. Shouldn't be that hard ...

    And those merchants that have affiliate programs but will showcase their products in Amazon. Then the Amazon page gets #1 in Google's SERP, costing everyone but Amazon.
