Question How does the YahooMail Spam ban work?
Does anyone know how the YahooMail spam ban/block work? You know, that button that you click upon ticking the messages that are spam...

I'm asking because I have this one extremely persistent vitamins merchant that keeps spamming and spamming me at my Yahoo address; and regardless of the fact that I have blocked him - for about 50 times already! - by using this YahooMail option, his messages just keep coming thru...... I wonder how they do it! They must know how to full Yahoo...

Not sure about Yahoo's spam filter. Google's works pretty well. I try to be careful where I give email accounts and really protect my personal email account. I must have given it to someone who I "thought" was trustworthy since I suddenly started getting tons or porn and drug email. This pisses me off since I use this account for my online stuff like banks, CJ, LS. I thought I would filter the email through Google, who then forwards it to me (non-Google account), until I had time to create a new account and notify all of my contacts-again. They filter out nearly all of it, about 80 a day or so and every once in a while one slips past. If you can't block them, maybe run your email through Google to see if that helps. I just put a forward for this one personal account to Google, who filters out the nasties and then forwards what is left to my new account.

I think thry just use that to learn what spammers are doing, possibly for future blocking info. But calling it spam won't make it go away.

Yahoo does let you block individual spammers, though. That works nicely.

Donna, that's what this button is supposed to do, and that's what it does for all other spammers that write to me! You tick 'em, click the button, and THEN when they write to you again, they go to the "Bulk" mail box. But this one sucker just keeps coming into my "Inbox"!

Face it. Yahoo is an Adwhore run operation blind to the antics of SERP and e-mail spammers. Google hates their gaming Adwhores almost as much as Microsoft. At least MSN takes legal action and wants to lock up affiliate spammers and their monitizers.

Microsoft is investigating 13 spam operations as part of a call to action against zombies, which are compromised computers used without their owners' permission to send spam, launch denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, and spread worms and viruses.

Hoping to turn the tide on spam zombies, Microsoft has filed suit against entities it said used compromised PCs to send millions of junk e-mail messages.... In its investigation, Microsoft intentionally created a zombie computer. Over a three-week period, the PC was accessed 5 million times by its remote controllers and used to send out 18 million spam messages advertising more than 13,000 Web sites, Cranton said. Microsoft said it blocked the junk mail before it hit the Internet.
