Thumbs down Sheraton Hotels - stingiest commission rate in history?
    Just saw this on CJ:

"When you connect with Sheraton, both you and your customers benefit. Each time you refer a customer to Sheraton, you earn a generous commission when they book a hotel room. With more than 400 hotels and resorts in over 70 countries, Sheraton offers the entire spectrum of comfort - from full-service hotels in major cities to luxurious resorts by the water.

    Sheraton Affiliates Receive
Extremely competitive compensation package: $5.50 per hotel booking" [their emphasis]

$5.50 a booking? Is that the meanest commission in history? Anybody know how much it costs for a couple to stay a week at the Sheraton? I have no idea, as I've never been able to afford it.

Hmmmm. Did you say $5.50? I almost can't believe this... In another thread we're discussing $10-15 commissions from airline companies. What is up with these guys?!?! I pay $15-20 for my average order... WWW (weird-weird world) it is!

Well, I've been in a Sheraton exactly once.. and it was crap. And expensive.

Oh, I've stayed in worse hotels. And I've stayed in more expensive hotels. But for a combination of crapness times cost, I think the Sheraton has them all licked.

Yes but $5.50 pays for about one Coke in the bar at the Sheraton.

    Good advice.

An addition to it: move on to the better paying ones. I have just done my research and there are hotel/travel affiliate programs that pay up to $25 per booking (while others pay a % off of the money they charge; the best one I've been able to find among these pays 15%)...

It's all about the ambiance. At the Sheraton bar, Coke tastes like fine Bordeaux

It depends on how long the customers stay, and which "property" they stay at! If they stay 1 night in a ~$100 room (like their site is showing me for the Detroit area), $5.50's about 5.5% which is on the low side but not totally awful.

On the other hand, if they stay a WEEK, then $5.50 is a huge, pathetic ripoff beyond description!

This is the reason I HATE flat rate commissions. I won't be signing up.
