November 13th, 2005, 11:35 AM #1"tell-a-friend" scripts: What to look for?
I was wondering what are the importan features to look for in such a script. For me, I am especially interested in:
1. Something fast. I don't want anything slowing down my site or clogging up my code.
2. Something that will not in any way hinder a Search Engine's spider.
If you have a script that is working great for you, please let us know!

Add "3. won't become a vector for spammers" to your list. A poorly designed script will allow people to hijack your TAF page to spam people.Tim

I like this one, runs in php.
It's basic to use, you just link to it from any page and it grabs the url of the page the visitor just came from as the one to pass on, very simple. Also has some decent features plus security. Oh aye, it's free with a link back.

If you have ever wanted one of those recommend my site buttons on your site, but were concerned about who was getting the information- now you can do it yourself!

I second the vote for bignosedbird too, good scripts. I have their "BNB Virtual Greeting Card Server Script" on one of my sites.

Thanks for the recommendation Sal. Many of those scripts look very useful to a new webmaster like myself.
