Zappos Bans Direct to Merchant PPC
In the event anyone else does a little direct to Zappos PPC, I just thought I would highlight this in their description in CJ:

"In addition, publishers are not allowed to have Zappos (or any variation of Zappos) anywhere in their display URL. Violators risk losing all unpaid commissions and termination of their Zappos relationship. These restrictions are strictly enforced 24-hours/day, 7-days/week."

Anyone know how long this has been the case? I feel as though it has been up there for less than a week.

So, I guess if you have any direct to Zappos ads, take 'em down?

Just to be clear, this isn't about bidding on theeir trademark, their policy was that you had to bid the minimum.

Rather, this is about including "Zappos" in your display URL. That is, directly linking to Zappos from a Google Ad.

"Display URL" is the key word in that statement. It doesn't say anything about the "Destination URL".

The problem with this is the Google Gustopo. They will get you for having a different display URL than what is shown on the actual destination page. It's just a matter of being caught at it. The actual destination page shows Zappos rather than andr***** etal and so if audited, they could get you on that one. They got me on that a few months ago. However, I know of people that have been doing that for quite awhile and Google has not caught up with them so I guess it's just a matter of timing and luck. Having your own landing pages seems to be the safest way to go.
:warning: If we don't get some cool rules ourselves.... pronto... then we'll just be bogus too..

Google may not liek it but Overture does not have a problem with it. If you have the money they have the slots.

Does anyone still even remember them?

Wouldn't they have to change their program terms and conditions and notify us for that to go into effect?
