Cool a problem with tower records datafeed
    Hello, everyone.
I have been getting a "cannot create http- directory error" with the tower records datafeed using Webmerge 2.4.** and I have tried changing the parameters in almost every format that I can think of. Is there an easy fix for this?

    Thanks.

Sounds like this may be a problem of extra slash character in a data field that is being used to create a file name. WM interprests a "slash" as an instruction to create a subdirectory.

Do you know how to correct this in Webmerge?
Any remedies to help fix this in Webmerge for this datafeed would be appreciated. I am working on producing my own database for easier integration and site control.
    Thanks

Is this error happening while you're uploading? Do you have permissions to create directories where the program has been directed to do so?

Sounds like the datafeed file needs fixing, not WebMerge. You might want to take a look at the feed file for any weird characters. Did your last run go okay?

No, Richard. The error does not occur while uploading. It occurs when I hit the "build pages" button in webmerge after selecting the detail and index page parameters. I am not sure about the permissions, how would I check those?

Hi, Fred. I didn't have any trouble within the last few datafeeds of tower records that I received via email. Can you give me some idea of what the weird characters may look like? thanks.

Sound like the field you're using for the file name contains a URL, is that correct? Is that what you intended to do?

    Yes, Richard, that's correct.
Update: Since this posting I have for the time being, given up trying to use the tower records feed due to it's size (760mb) unzipped and worked with smaller feeds. If Tower Records can ever figure out how to chop its feed into smaller segments, I'll be able to integrate it into my site at a later time.
    Thank you for your help.

I didn't realize this feed was so large. It is very likely you have some bad records (misconfigured), in the file. This requires a more powerful application to clean it up, Try mySQL or M$ Access.

    Hi, Fred.
I got Tower Records' feed up and running live. Yeah, it was that large, and there are a few others that are even bigger. Boy! do those things gobble up hard drive space. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I get it up and going. It's live and I am working on a few others as well. Take care.
