    Microsoft losing $ on xbox
The cost of building a Microsoft Corp Xbox 360 video game console is nearly 40 percent higher than the retail price, technology and microchip research company iSuppli said on Wednesday.

The firm estimated the total cost to manufacture and test a premium Xbox 360, the software giant's sleek and powerful new gaming machine, which debuted on Tuesday, was $552.27, compared with its retail price of $399.

Microsoft aims to sell about 5.5 million premium and lower-priced basic Xbox 360 units by the end of June.

And they'll make up the difference plus more on the games, accessories, and XBox live subscriptions.

I seen on the news this morning alot of people are complaining about tech errors. Errors popping up during game playing and stuff like that. Parasites maybe?

I guess they know what they're doing when it comes to making money). Wouldn't it be a better idea to sell the product at a higher rate until the PS-3 comes out? Then start to compete.

I guess they want everyone to think the price is great, so don't bother waiting for Sony's product.

I have never seen an xbox or a playstation, Would have no clue what one looks like. I stopped playing video games after my atari 2600 broke. They will make their money off the games and subscriptions.

Funny thing about that is I have a video game section on a site and I have no clue as to what I am talking about, But I dump 50 pages of quality original written keyword content on an unsuspecting public once a week. Hot dog theory at its best

Really? That's ridiculous for the money you have to spend for one of these. I was thinking about getting one, but may have to seriously re-think that decision. Guess I'll stick with the regular Nintendo. Still gets the job done. Wonder is PS3 will be any better??

The 360 has no more errors than the normal release of a console. There will always be manufacturing errors, always, it happens with any piece of hardware.

As for the parasites, to quote haiko - bullhockey. And that is BS to even say such crap where people might think you aren't joking (i sure hope you are).

I sure hope so too. The games for it look quite outstanding. I am just hoping it won't be like the PS2, in which everyone's I know seem to stop reading games claiming 'Disc Error' after a few months of gameplay.

Yup ever wonder why brand new ink sometimes cost more than a brand new printer.

I buy new printers all the time because they come with both color and black ink. and the printer is what 30 dollars.
black ink alone is 30 dollars and color ink is 40.

Watch this, to combat this, some printer manufacturers sell their printers with half-sized/filled cartridges.
