    Arrow How to automatically download a datafeed ?
    Hi, Anyone got some tips on how to create a script to automatically download a datafeed file and place it in a folder on pc using a desktop shortcut?

    This would most likely be a cmd command. I have tried following instructions for using wget but couldn't figure it out

    This is just to make retrieving the file easier instead of downloading manually,

    I tried to follow these instructions below after downloading wget but can't make sense of it....
    ---------------
    A complete wget session on a Windows system will look like this:

    C:\temp>c:\progra~1\wget\wget --http-user=XXXXX --http-passwd=XXXXXXXX https://www.mymerchant.com/feed-pick...-affiliate.txt
    --16:57:08-- https://www.mymerchant.com/feed-pick...-affiliate.txt
    => `feed--affiliate.txt'

    [ <=> ] 2,988,131 174.21K/s

    16:57:46 (174.21 KB/s) - `feed--affiliate.txt' saved [2988131]

    C:\temp>
    -------------------

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Save your wget command line in a batch file (update.bat or somesuch), then use "Task Scheduler" (in Win2k it's in the menu Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Scheduled Tasks) to schedule execution of the batch file. The wizard is pretty straightforward.

    hi FFoc, using task scheduler sounds like a good idea... anyway I managed to work out how to create a file to download the feed, something like this...

    @echo off
    E:
    cd \sites\mywebsite\db
    "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\wgetrc\WGET" -- http://products.mymerchant.com/dataf...sword=password --no-check-certificate

    Has anyone thought of making up a step by step process for automating a datafeed for any newbies that may be surfing this forum? God knows, I could use some tips and hints myself.

    I happily accept any articles on the basics of building datafeed-based sites.
