Find CafePress shops that fit your site :)
    http://forum.abestweb.com/forumdisplay.php?f=344

Well, first we need some shopkeepers to post Because there are now a whole lot of shopkeepers that have suddenly become "merchants" we wanted to give them a place to recruit affiliates without cluttering up the New Program Announcements main forum. Also, because Haiko is a great guy, he has cut the price of an announcement here from the normal $50 to $20.

So, if you are a CafePress shopkeeper with banners and tools for affiliates, go post! Be sure to include the following:

    1. Link to your shop
    2. Description of your shop
    3. Link to your tools and banners
    4. Topics and themes the art/photographytext art in your shop has.
    5. Be Specific!

If you are an affiliate, look here to find the shopkeepers that are willing to go the extra mile to get you to promote their items. Remember that no matter if you like to a specific shop or to a general link, your cookie is good at all opted in shop at CafePress, not just at the shop you link to. However, we all know that presenting specialized and targetted products and ads is good for all of us!

do we just send a PM to Haiko asking to post?

edited to add - I found it - you just click "new thread" in the CP announcement forum and it tells you what to do.

    Thanks!

How do we link to the tools and banners to go directly to our shops?

Ok, before I proceed (gonna set up some tools for non datafeed affiliates and a proper datafeed for datafeed affiliates before I advertise proper on the other thread), I did this page for my affiliates
    http://www.sfxfantasy.com/affiliates.htm

Is that accurate? I mean this whole thing is managed by cafepress, so an affiliate who sells my products will get 20% commission and 30 return days right? cafepress takes care of everything?

How do I pull out my products from the generic cafepress feed so I can feed my products into the tools I create?

Another thing, by default, all cafepress shopkeepers are enrolled in the affiliate program thing right? Just want to make sure. Can't seem to find anything about that in my shop keeper account.

The link you would use as an example for you affiliates would look like this:

    http://cafepress.com/yourshopid?pid=...nythingyouwant

PID=the Afflilates PID and the TID= any tracking id you want to add to a link to be able to see the clicks and conversions for that specific link.

The stripped down marketplace link to your shop or any shop at CafePress.com is:
    Code:
    http://www.cafepress.com/cp/browse/store/shopid?pid=xxxxxxx&tid=yourtidtext

    Very nice!!! Two quick suggestions:
Re-read this line and you will see a change you need to make :
Once you have done signed up, you can get enter your pid into this form to get some basic links

And where you have the link direct to your shop, make the display show the ?pid=xxx added to it but the actually html link to have either your pid or now pid.

Is that accurate? I mean this whole thing is managed by cafepress, so an affiliate who sells my products will get 20% commission and 30 return days right? cafepress takes care of everything?
    That is correct.
How do I pull out my products from the generic cafepress feed so I can feed my products into the tools I create?
You have to do that manually at this time. You can do it by keywords if you images are tagged with a keyword that is unique to you. For example I know of some artists and shopkeepers that tag using there name or site name.

That depends on what you mean by "enrolled".

Shopkeepers need to click the the Affiliate Program link at the bottom of the page to sign up to be an affiliate and get a PID assigned.

Shops are automatically opted into the affiliate program to be linked to. They need to specifically go into Shop Information and Opt out if they do not want affiliates linking to them or to pay affiliate commissions. Opted out shops do not show up in the Marketplace, so that is how you know if you are linking to opted in shops A complete FAQ on this is in the works, I have been writng FAQ's furiously!

So affiliates can link to your shop and earn commissions unless you the shopkeeper clicked a box specifically to Opt Out.

So right now, there are only those two merchants that pay commissions???

If there are others, how do we know which ones?

Any chance of "normal" feeds that can bew used with Webmerge and html pages?

If a shop or product shows up in the Marketplace search, they pay commissions, there are 20 million opted in products and only a handful of opted out shops.

We are working on it. In the meantime Adam of Buy Tees has a couple of tools you might be interested in:

    http://blog.buytees.net/
    http://www.buytees.net/members/
Aklthough this second one looks like it is for shopkeepers, it can be used by affiliates to pull feeds by shop or by keyword.

There are several third party tools in developement that are shop creators, directory/portal creators and ways to utilize the xml.

In January I will be running a couple of workshops to introduce some of these tools and make it easy to get started with them! I'll go post in a new thread about a couple of them that you can use now!

Are those like Google ads but for Cafe Press??

What's the deal? Does he get a cut or what?

I really want to do my own using something like webmerge. That way, I can make it fit into the sites I have seamlessly, do my SEO thing, and not worry if Google will kick me out or something on the pages where I also use them.

Also, much of the text I have on the pages is for navigation to other kinds of products. I think that would NOT put the things I want the customers to see on those pages if it depends on the text on the page to determine what is "contextual".

I recently spent a couple of days messing around with dynamically generated pages. I found it interesting but there were some significant drawbacks to doing it that way that I really do not like. I can't do the same SEO, it appears, and I can't mix and match merchants products the same way. I have to list the products under the individual merchant which I do not like even a little bit. I have one merchant that sells books but for good measure, he through in fishing tackle! I want to send people looking for fishing tackle to fishing tackle, not to a book seller! I guess, it can be done but I am not that advanced.

I wish you would solve this soon since I really NEED your stuff several places.

GET A MOVE ON!!! HOP TO IT!! GET THE LEAD OUT!! QUIT SHILLY SHALLYING!! YA' HEAR???

They are like google ads in a way. He gets a cut, the bottom ad link has his pid, the top ads have yours. You enter it when you create the code link. You can enter keywords or not. So you don't have to rely on it being contextual. I use keywords in the banners I have up.

Using his datafeed creator tool is free, you can create flatfile feeds right now using keywords.

They are working on the next generation of the xml, but offering flatfile versions is going to be up to 3rd party programmers and individual shopkeepers for a while. cpShop may be a good option for you since you can target the products you want, use your own template, and seo the pages, and keep shoppers totally at your site. So like WebMerge only no page creation and no datafeed

Please, save me some frustration and tell me where this is. I am sure it is there but there is a lot to wade through.

DANG! Where'd she go??? Just when it was getting interesting, too.

Hi Amanda! I had to remove your url because you would need to go to this thread:

    http://forum.abestweb.com/forumdisplay.php?f=344

And go through the process to add your shop there. Also, your shop isn't quite ready for people to link to it!!! When you have finished setting it up, that would be a better time to announce it. In the meantime, do some reading here on the forums and maybe introduce yourself (without your url) in the Introduce yourself section of the forum.
