Tired of working for nothing, whats up?
hey I don't know whats happening but something isn't right with Linkshare tracking.

For example I have over 500 impressions for Drugstore this month, 0 click throughs

    many other merchants similar

Now I recently started using a number of CJ merchants and I get a sale nearly every day their now, many click throughs - if I had 500 impressions that would equal at least 5 sales with CJ but with Linkshare its different.

I wonder if anyone else thinks that they are getting short changed on Linkshare?

You need clicks first before you get sales. Why aren't the people coming to your site clicking on the Drugstore links.

I thought I made that clear in my original post that I do get click throughs but only with CJ, Linkshare tracking doesn't show click throughs (well only a few)

If I had 500 impressions for a cj merchant that would equal around 25 - 50 aprox click throughs but with Linkshare it would equal 0 - 3 at most.

So what I'm seeing is that there is some issue with the tracking.

I'm running over 500 merchants on one website and I see this pattern not just on Drugstore as I used that as an example but all of Linkshare merchants but CJ merchants have 10x times click throughs.

I'm wondering if anyone else has seen a similar thing?

I'm having click thrus and sales at LS. Converting at a little over 6% with Drugstore this month on daily sales. So it's not a LS issue.

I am not sure how CJ runs with its merchants, maybe I will take some time to study it later. However, it sometimes really annoys affiliates if they have hundreds of impressions to a certain merchant but gets no commission.

One sure thing, LS has no tracking problem and you can test it by trying ordering an item that you really need from them and check it. If it doesn’t add your track, you may consider do what you want.

HA....I need to get my diddy decoder ring to figure out what the hell this is all about.......found it....so here it is.....

I will gladly have a CJ hamburger today, but I will pay you on Tuesday.

Going on a blind date and not getting action friggin sucks.

They best way to test the strength of grain alcohol is to drink it straight.

And of course, if the glove don't fit you must acquit.

These decoder rings are the bomb, although....what the hell are we talking about here.....Oh yeah....

The moral of the story is this.....oh nevermind....I forgot

    glinted,
If you want to email abw(at)linkshare.com with your LinkShare username, email address and one of the drugstore links you're using, we can look into it for you to ensure the link is tracking correctly.

My user name is ckcorp with e-mail of mike at EcomCity.com and my web site since 1997 is www.ecomcity.com Unlike my Linkshare reports, my hosting server stats go back 5 years and show I have averaged a steady 1000 unique visitors per day with 3800 daily page views. The usual Christmas shopping traffic spikes have occur and I expanded Linkshare merchant exposure on the site this year. The 2700 highly targeted LS clicks reported during the Nov-Dec 2005 peak shopping period has earned me $26.18 in commissions. Not even enough to pay for hosting fees. ZERO sales since Dec 1st.

Would you mind having your network compliance department look into where my LS Christmas sales were credited too. As a test I took one natural SERP PR4 page (Out of 384 pages) showcasing a specific non-network merchant that generated 97 clicks from Nov1st to Dec 12th. Those specially coded clicks showed 16 sales for a total of $1283 verified by logging into the merchants shopping cart. I get automatic e-mailed verification of each click/sale from those links.

This challenge and response is important to Linkshare's creditability. After all your network has award me personally a GoldenLink Award, and 2 site pages as being the "best of the best" examples of how to showcase Linkshare merchants. ...

ps; those award PR5 pages haven't sold a single LS item this Christmas season with over 2500 page views. I use only LS generated link codes so I'm blind as to how many clicks they generated for whatt's traditionally most popular of adult Christmas gifts.

You can also try making a test purchase of something small to make sure it tracks.

    "ZERO sales since Dec 1st."

But somehow others are getting sales. Now how does that happen? Try a test purchase.

I did at a few of my merchant clients offices on totally parasite free systems. I'm happy to report they all got their orders, and I got ZERO reported sales. Needless to say they'll continue shopping my links for the "good stuff---Cheap!" while they pitty the poor affiliates bucking the system.

Which merchants? We have a Test Purchase forum here, don't remember seeing your post there. Good to keep that stuff documented to see if other people are having the same issues. Overall i'm having a great December with merchants at LS. Overall conversion is over 6%, that's on 38 different merchants, Overstock is converting at over 7% for me.

I'm still doing OK with LinkShare but I spent 9 years finding the few merchants with ethics and good conversion. Yes, there's some good merchants and they are the only reason why I'm still with LS. What pisses me off is the feeling to feed all these idiots working there. Awful feeling. I'm sure there's a few people who don't know how they end up working for LinkShare and I'm sorry for my comments.

Reality should hit you in the butt like it has me over the years. Every time I start to move on un-reported test sales from phase I to phase II, I get dropped without cause from those programs as the preferred silencing method. It's good to hear your methods better those of the actual merchants and any other affiliate ( including all BHO's) on your network choices.

BS. You're still in Overstocks program, Tiger is the only one i know that dropped you and they were wrong on that. Plenty of people have reported their test purchases, not you for some reason. How's keeping it a secret help anybody? It's not your fault you have 0 sales during the busiest month of the year, not ever your fault. Since you always think it's networks or parasites that's the problem, not your site like most people do, how about converting your site over to all SAS and indy merchants. Then what are you going to use as an excuse when the sales don't come? What's stopping you? Convert it on over to all parasite free merchants. Then come back and we'll see how the sales are.

I assume you have taken a real hard look at the LS URLs you are using to see that the great LS computer in the sky hasn't flipped a digit on your usercode ... one of my data feed dropped a dash in the SKUs awhile ago and I was sending a bunch of folks to the vendor's search page.

I'm not sure if I'm going mad or what but I just checked my stats and it shows:

    drugstore.com, inc. 187/1
the other day it was over 500 for this month?

wow, I got one click through

So far this month my stats show for all merchants 2,476/21 & $10 sales

Well lucky I use CJ & other networks and don't rely on LS for my daily bread

Thanks heavens for Google otherwisie I would be begging on the streets,

but overall this last year has been very good and I now have a profitable business and LS is part of it too,

    thanks

    merry Christmas

Good advice I've followed for years. I only use LS fresh generated codes from the get links section.... never any e-mailed codes.

I know my daily traffic is at normal levels and all my reported clicks come from LS coded links. The part that pisses me off is my focused shoppers get forced cookie overwrites from affiliates & merchants riding theftware trains at places like 180Solutions. My URL and all top PR pages are targeted by blackhat affiliates and small merchants using blackhat tricks to bleed Adwords/Overture with scraped content. Rogue BHO's cut into shopper sessions on my pages too.

Just a tip of the site scrapers using my pages for their commission and PPCSE tempate domains can be seens below restricting my SERP traffic growth.

I'll respect Haiko's wimpy restrictions on not posting the hord of shanky affiliate auditrons URLs by not showing you hundreds of similar pages on all my savvy shoppers buying keywords on all major SE's. We all know it's better to let thousands of commission stealing tricks for clicks players have free run on our promotion efforts then to wrongfully point an accusing finger at a misguided fellow affiliate.

Here's one for Haiko's team to digest as they steal page rank from hundreds of ABWers running blank doorway page domains with your and my content... Nice PR6 site

Then try www.webpromoter.com or webpromoter.net to understand the new wave in affiliate marketing rather then listen to a fuddy duddy like me.

hi ecomcity, I'm not sure exactly what all that means but I have checked my links and they seem ok. One thing I have been meaning to ask though is it necessary to use these tiny images in the urls i.e.

    [main link here]<IMG border=0 width=1 height=1 src="http://ad.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/show?id=[number here]&bids=[number here]&type=[number here]&subid=[number here]" >

I have not bothered too much with these things as I have only been worried about getting my sites completely developed and busy, now that has happened I have to look at these things now.

What are your thoughts on these images?

I'm also setting up a new click system for so that a local link will be shown on the web page but will go through to a database driven system and the affiliate link will then be processed. This is one way I hope to protect my urls and also count my own stats. I have to admit, I have kept a blind eye to link stealing until now and put it off to worry about later but I probably need to seriously look at these issues too, now that my business is taking off.

Since I run a coupon site then I need to grab all the latest discounts as fast as possible, there is one network that allows me to do this for several hundred merchants in 2 minutes all up, I just wish other networks had a similar system. So one of the most efficient ways of dealing with LS & BeFree (reporting.net) fresh links is to use the email ones. I can grab many of them like this much easier than browsing each merchant one at a time. The only successful Network that I can do that with is CJ as I can generate all links from one merchant easily and it is placed on one web page for me to gather up the links. I don't have a clue what their Smartzones are about but have tried several times to see what they do but nothing happens, no help at all on their website about them???

A lot of the links I use need to be processed quickly and many times its more efficient to grab a bunch from an email than browsing for each one.

BeFree won't let me single out selective websites to receive emails so I have to accept them all or none at all and this could mean 15 or more emails exactly the same from one merchant, now you times that X 80% of BeFree Merchants and you have one bloated email account and thats not even counting the other networks emails from merchants.

There are so many problems and issues with these networks but in a way it makes it more challenging but I know if the Networks would listen sometimes it would go a long way. I have often sent many ideas and improvements that should be made to the networks but 100% of the time they don't want to know about it? but there is one network who does listen and that is ShareASale, I helped them develop the coupon datafeed system to streamline and improve things after I had some issues with it and they not only listened but implemented the ideas I put forward.

I have to run a database query on BeFree to sort out the links so the correct site is showing. ie.. Replace "this site ID" with "this Site ID" etc
lucky I worked out how to do all this with one click plus I have to sort out this:

UPDATE Products SET ProdLink = Replace(ProdLink,"serve?","click?")
    WHERE ProdLink Like "*serve?*";

if I don't do that no links work, and this is what is sent to me in email????
